Had my first eeg yesterday and I did ok until she turned on the strobe lights. My eyes and face were twitching really bad, and some twitching throughout the rest of my body. I'm not sure if this is just a normal reaction to flashing lights (?), but it was very uncomfortable! I didn't notice until I got home, but I must have bit my tongue too. It hurt really bad and was purple. I don't remember doing this, so I'm not sure if it happened before, during, or after the eeg.

About an hour after I got out of my appointment, I started twitching more intensely and more frequently than usual. It's been like that all day too. We had a long, horrible, thunderstorm today with a ton of lighting and loud thunder that made it worse. I don't think I've had a break from it today :(

I guess I just kinda want to know if this is all normal?

Did no-one speak to you about the results of your EEG afterwards? Bothmy son and daughter were given theirs immediately. It may be that there is a photosensitive component (seizures triggered by some types of flashing or flickering lights) if you do indeed have epilepsy.

Oh, MissGriff, my heart sincerely goes out to you! I, too, am sensitive to strobe lights, and anything resembling strobe lights (sunlight streaming through trees at a fast pace when riding in a car---I'm not allowed to drive), tube lighting that's about to burn out, flickering on off at just the right pace. I couldn't watch part of the performances on the Tony Awards on TV b/c parts of it had strobe lights. Unfortunately, lightning also tends to flicker like strobe. I wish I could be more helpful, but my neurologist said it best, "All brains are different, Ann. Even ones developing from the same ovum/egg (twins)." Did you happen to ask your nurses or neurologist the type of seizure your EEG showed, and did your neurologist answer any or all the questions you had about your EEG? And, did she or he schedule a 3 month follow up appointment? Take care & be well, Miss Griff!l

Thanks guys! The lady that did the EEG said she couldn't tell me anything, I'd have to wait and talk to the dr. My appt with the dr isn't till July 1st to go over the results and to start me on Topomax.

I can't handle the sunlight through the trees. It always made me nauseous and made my body feel numb and tingly. I grew up in the country so I went through that a lot. Can't remember if it made me twitch tho.

I used to only twitch occasionally or when I was emotional. The all day, for no reason twitching just started a few months ago and is getting worse (along with my memory), so I'm still fairly new to all this.
