Hello again everyone,

Been on Topamax for just over a month now, unfortunately had my first seizure for 6 months though (in my new job too ), but I've been experiencing a fair amount of hair loss ALREADY but I don't want to change back to Keppra because I disliked the drug and I'm unsure of Zonegran or any other drugs so I'm wondering has anyone got any advice on things I can do to help stop the hair loss?

I have bought some Vitamin E supplements for hair and nails to see if they'll help but this is the only side effect that is really making me want to change off the drug, even with the pins and needles keeping me up most nights.

Please help :(

Hair loss has got to be one of the more distressing side effects out there. Every AED seems to cause it -- although not for everyone who takes a given med. I had hair loss when I first went on Lamictal. Eventually that side effect went away, but I can't say for sure whether it was just a matter of being patient and letting my body adjust, or whether other factors helped as well. I did decrease my dose a bit, so that may have mad a difference. And I also started taking Biotin supplements. I still take them, since there are no known sde effects, and it can help strengthen nails and hair.

Like, the above statement... on lamictal I had hair loss just after a few weeks. I am now on keppra and still have same issue so went to dermo go rule out other issues. It seems, like nakamova said, wait it out!!! I may have changed a med to quickly that could have been better for me.
