Has anyone suffered hair loss as a result of their meds?? I am on topamax and have noticed over the past few weeks every time I wash or brush my hair I am starting to lose more and more. It's really starting to freak me out!
 
I lost quite a bit of hair the few months I was on Topamax. I stopped taking it and it took around 6 months before the hair loss began to taper off.
 
I was losing hair when I first started on Lamictal, but that side effect went away after a few months.
 
I am on Topamax now and take 500mg of biotin to prevent hair loss and it also keeps my hair soft...not sure how to say it but not brittle. Topamax definitely has that effect on hair as has other medications I've taken for epilepsy (can't remember right now which ones right now but I was on lamictal so maybe it was that) Biotin always did the trick and fairly quick. Its easy to get and harmless. Hope that helps! Good luck.
 
I'm on Lamictal, epilim and vimpat. I think it is lamictal or epilim that is causing my hair loss. I was put on "the pill" Its helped a little bit, its frustrating tho (especially when I used to have really long hair :(. )
I didnt spend much time on Topamax as I was having panic attacks (which I was warned was one of the side effects)

Thanks everyone, I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to talk to him about it. It seems a lot of people have had success with with biotin. I hope it works for me! I really don't want to change my meds but I really don't want to lose my hair either!!
 
I had hair-fall off trouble when I was on Depakine. It was horrible.
Later I was on Topamax but it didn't fall off a lot as it fell off when I was on Depakine.
Topamax ruined my memory completely too.
 
I believe the Depakote and Lamictal i've been taking since 2000 did the trick for me. Well at least I do have some hair left. :)
