Happy Solstice to all.
The winter solstice is a good time to reflect on the year passed and look ahead to the upcoming one.
It is the time when the universe re-assures us that the days will start getting longer and the sun will come back.
I find it a good time to work on renewal of faith, commitments, connections.
There's a song by the Counting Crows that has been stuck in my head called "Long December" that captures this sentiment of renewal that I feel is the essence of this season when all the tinsel and gift wrapping is stripped off.
"The smell of hospitals in winter
And the feeling that it's all a lot of oysters but no pearls
When all at once you look across a crowded room
To see the way that light attaches to a girl
Drove up to Hillside Manor sometime after 2 a.m.
And talked a little while about the year
I guess the winter
Makes you laugh a little slower
Makes you talk a little lower...............
It's been a long December
And there's reason to believe
That maybe this year
Will be better than the last"
There is always reason to believe that things will improve, IMO.

to the homeless, The cold,
those in pain (physical, mental)
the lonely, all who suffer,
those in prison, those living with addictions,
those with anger, those with hate.
God Bless them because they are in need.
Merry Christmas to my family, friends, enemies.
May the story of Christmas bring new hope,
bring joy and lead us to a caring, loving society.
