Mr neur. presc. amitriptyline 10mg --for me to take 1/2 tablet at bedtime.
I have been having alot of hip and leg pain only at night.
She thinks is could be a pinch nerve and sending me for MRI. She has also order physical therapy.

I know medic. works diff. for each person, however I have become terrify of medic..

My FP presc. Diazepam, when I got home I discover that this is the generic for valium--I'm already taking clonazepam = generic for klonopin. SOO that went into the drawer with the other medic. I can't or will not take.

Yes I don't want pain but I do want to know that I am on this earth.

Amitryptiline (the generic of Elavil) is an anti-depressant, though it's also prescribed for a lot of things "off-label" including all sorts of nerve-related pain. The main side effects are dry mouth and sleepiness.

I took Amitriptyline years ago for depression. It is a tricyclic anti-depressant, instead of an SSRI, which is what some of the newer anti-depressants such as Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, Paxil, just to name a few.

Klonopin is also used for depression/anxiety as is Diazepam. They are known as "benzo" (benzodiazepine) drugs.
