Has anyone taken Hydroco with seizure drugs>

I was just going through somethings and it came across to me that Ive been taking this Hydroco apap/ 7.5 that was prescribed to me about a month ago when I was dx'd with acute bronchitis. Since then, Ive been taking 1-2 tsp at night for the chest pain. But what I didnt realize is that the fast heart beat Ive been having, I have it more during the night, than during the day, could it be linked to the Hydroco?

I take the hydroco at night, and within an hour or two after taking it, is when Im seeing the increased heart beat. I even have trouble sleeping. I know with hydroco its suppose to make you drowsy, but for me i dont think its helping me fall asleep.

As far as with the irregular heart beat, Im concerned that maybe thats part of it. Ive been taking this for a month now. I know you're not suppose to take it for a long amount of time, due to the risk of getting addicted to it. I really want to not take it. Im just afraid of the chest pain at night. My aunt told me not to take it tonight and take something else, to see if I have the fast heart beat tonight. I last took it about 24 hours ago.

I just wondered if anyone here knew if taking hydroco with seizure medications could affect someone like this?

I take Keppra XR in the AM and PM, 1500mgs twice a day.

I have

taken it several times, due to severe upper respiratory infections, acute bronchitis and pneumonia as well. And yes, I had the same thing as you, on different drugs and dosages. In some cases, it wasn't quite so bad, if I remember right, it varied by the drugs I was on at the time.

I was taking it more often than you are, though. How long did the doctor prescribe it for? Long-term use of that CAN be addicting because of the components in it...

Your aunt's suggestion is right on the money. And talk to your pharmacist. See what they have to say. Perhaps you can get your hands on an over the counter cough syrup that will help more.

Finally, go back to the doctor. If it's been a month, and you're STILL not doing well, you REALLY need to be seen again.

Well I ended up being told I had acute bronchitis on 10-24. That was at a urgent care clinic. They gave me z-pak, which is antiobotic you take for five days, but stays in your body for 10 days. On 10-27 I had a follow up appointment with my primary care drs office. Thats when the Pysicain Assistant I saw that day, prescribed me the Hydroco. Told me to only take it at night, and then use tyenol or ibuphropen during the day. So I started it that night, and used it lon the nights where i had pain that I couldnt sleep. On November 21st, I went back into the drs office, because the pain wasnt getting any better, and again my primary care dr wasnt in, so I had to see the pysician assistance again. He didnt know what was going on, but had another dr come in to look at me. This dr examined me and told me I had Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. But whats weird, is that the Pysician assistant sent over to my pharmacy a order again for a prescription of the Hydroco, without telling me! We found this out when my husband went to the pharmacy to pick up his prescription for a antibiotic for an ear infection. The pharmacist said I had one there, and due to the Privacy laws, the pharamcist couldnt tell my husband what the prescription was for, so he kept guessing! LOL He finally guessed right and the pharmacist said that's what the dr ordered. So he without knowing I needed it, picked it up again. I dont know why he ordered again for me. But we now have a whole extra bottle of Hydroco. So, all in all... Ive been using it for about a month... started out taking 2 tsp each night, and on some nights where i didnt have alot of pain, I only took 1 tsp. When the fast heart beat picked up and I noticed a huge difference, I quit taking it. I didnt use it last night and didnt have the fast heart beating when I normally have noticed it. Around a couple of hours after taking it. I think its weird why the PA would keep prescribing it to me!

Hydroco can cause fast or irregular heartbeat, so seems like a good idea to give it a rest. In fact the drug info for it says" "Notify your doctor if you develop a rapid heart rate, chest pain, nightmares, hallucinations..."

Yeah I saw that last night after looking it up. I didnt take it last night and felt much better. The nurse from the drs office that specializes in Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, called me today and said she went over my stuff with the dr, and it doesnt like like I have the thoracic outlet syndrome at all. She even said if she were me, to think about looking around to get a different primary care dr. She just couldnt beleive that the dr would tell me I have thoracic outlet syndrome by raising my arm and pulling back on my fingers, causing the pain, and then dx'ing me with Thoracic outlet Syndrome. Like she said, there are tests that the dr could do to determine if I have it. They didnt do any tests at all. Just dx'd me right on the spot. The nurse didnt want me to waiste a trip, and money spent on a dr who feels I dont have this at all. I did tell her I have an appointment scheduled with a cardiologist for next tuesday. She said that was a good idea. She thinks its more related to a heart problem. I havnt taken any medication for GERD for a week now. Im just trying to figure out if GERD can cause pain in the left part of the chest area. Everything Im finding online says it can affect the chest, but I cant seem to find anything good on if it can affect it on the left and center areas. Im praying to god its from GERD and not nothing serious with my heart. But Im most def going to keep my appointment with the Cardiologist and want to know how my heart is. That one is a really big concern of mine.

The left side of the chest is where the heart is of course, but that doesn't rule out stomach issues vs. cardio issues, since both are linked by the vagus nerve. If something is irritating your stomach (like GERD or a hiatal hernia), then that in turn can annoy the vagus nerve, which in turn can mess with your heartbeat. The result is the extra beats that can make your heart feel a bit like it is "stumbling."

So it could be stomach issues causing cardiac issues, or it could be cardiac issues causing cardiac issues. Let's hope the cardiologist can figure out what's going on.

Yes, I'm hoping the cardiologist can figure things out with me. It did suprise me that the GI dr's office called saying they had a cancelation for tomorrow. I wished it was in the later morning to mid afternoon. The opening was for 8am, and there was so way I could do that since I have to take our kids to school by 7:40am. Plus we live about half an hour away, so If I were to go, Id have to leave before 7am. So Im going to keep my GI appointment for Dec 15th, unless something else becomes available before then that I can do.
