right most of you probably think im crazy anyway so im going to just throw this one out there anyway! Before i was diagnosed with epilepsy, i had the eyelid fluttering and limb twitches, but i also had a heart murmur, i dont know if this is linked but im thinking it could be as before i started taking my medication i was having really bad heart murmurs to the point of me thinking my swinging brick of a heart was just going to stop! so i went to the doctors who done a ECG (think thats what its called) on me and said there where no obvious problems with my heart just an unexplained murmur, well anyways get diagnosed 12 months after a grand mal and start meds and all symptoms of epilepsy disappeared including murmur, well this is whats got me thinking of it, now that my utterly stupid pharmacist decided to switch me from keppra to generic levetiracetam (started taking on saturday) i have experienced about two or three heart murmurs could this be some sort of signal that the meds arent working the same or they arent right? i know my neurologist is going to get intouch with GP and pharmacy to say i need to be on keppra but im a bit worried, do i tell him about this murmur or what? other than you all thinking iv lost it (which im sure i have btw!) what do you think? ever experienced the same thing or something like it? Input will be greatly appreciated xxx

If youre having these new symptoms after starting the generic of Keppra, i would be for sure contacting the neurologist to make sure they know. I know insurance companies and prescription companies like to give you the generics. Ive never been on a generic seizure medication and my dr recommends I dont ever get on one. I would for sure be letting your dr talk to the pharmacy and tell them to put you back on the name brand if these were not coming alot before when you were on the name brand keppra.

Thanks for your reply, im going to get intouch with neurologist again tomorrow (if i get paid) and see what is said about it, from what i was toldby his secretary he will be writing to the GP to put me back onto Keppra anyway as when i was first diagnosed he said i was going on Keppra not levetiracetam if that makes sense lol basically he put me on the keppra bran and he must of done that for a reason right xx

The symptoms sound more like rapid heartbeat/tachycardia than a heart murmur (which is a heart valve sound that you need a stethoscope to hear). If it's the latter, it could be a cardiac issue, or could be something else (reflux, anxiety) that mimics heart problems. Either way, no fun, and definitely something to let your neuro know about.
