My name is Nan, 57 and have been living w/epilepsy since the age of 15 1/2. Once they settled on a medication back then, that worked, it was Dilantin. I was rebellious and obeyed no rules for many years. My anger was obvious but finally settled in with the fact my g.mal seizures weren't going away.

Tegretal gave me a horrendous rash and my neuro refused to believe me so he wouldn't change my meds. After about 8 months on tegretol (worked great otherwise), doc. agreed to try Keppra. Im very nervous about this change, the things Ive read about keppra and anger issues are scary. So, here I am, hoping I don't put on any weight but lose it:bigsmile: and hope that I remain the peaceful, kind, sweet individual that I am:ponder:

Hi Nanellen,

Welcome to CWE, you'll find some great people on here.
You will find there are quite a few members on here who are either on Keppra or tried Keppra.

I have been taking Keppra since 2008 & I haven't had any issues with it.

Keppra is nicknamed Kepprarage as 1 of its side effects is depression, it has been suggested that taking Vitamin B can help with Kepprarage. There are other members on here who have had Keppra rage so they should be able to help more.

Welcome to the forum, lots of good info here.

I was on Keppra for 4 days but had an allergic reaction to it. I'm now on Lamictial. I have read that Keppra will help with weight loss.

hi Nanellen,

I can't take Keppra allergic to it.I was dx'd when I was 2 years old.

I'm on my 22nd AED

Welcome Nan.

I've been taking Keppra for a while now. I have recently been taking B6 and B12 supplements to control the moodiness. With my job, I need to stay calm under high stress situations, so I've always had to really watch my temper, but I really feel the supplements help me. I wasn't convinced it would work until I tried. Honestly, no keprage since I started.

I don't know about weight loss. My metabolism hasn't let me gain a lb since high school. I even stopped taking my medicine for a while and that never changed.

I'm on 2000 mg of Keppra and 150 mg of Vimpat.

Hi Nanellen, just wanted to say WELCOME!

Hope the Keppra works well for you. If not, there are a bunch of other meds out there to try, so don't give up.
