Hi. My name's Angela. I have two boys, Robbie is 14 and Collin is 12. Currently I'm at the hospital in Austin with Collin for some testing. Been here all week and should be going home towmorow. Collin started having seizures when he was nine. He has multiple types and is diagnosed with Lennoz Gaustat and also autism. He has a VNS and had a 2/3 corpus colosotomy in November which helped reduce his drop seizures, but not the other seizures. We are here at the hospital to see if there's anything else we can do to improve seizures. He's been on the keto diet for a year which has also helped reduce seizures some. He is also on Onfi and Lamictal. Robbie has autism and seizures too but his seizures are well controlled. My hubby has seizures too....his were very uncontrollable until he got the VNS about ten years ago now he rarely has seizures. My life is super busy caring for everyone. In my spare time, which is on the rare occasion that both of my boys are sleeping at night, I do my school work. I'm working on my masters in psychology with the hope of starting my own behavioral consulting agency for autism. As for hobbies, I enjoy singing and reading.

Hi Angela --

I'm not a mom, but I wanted to welcome you to CWE. Sounds like you've got a lot to handle -- congrats on making it all work while getting a degree. I hope you remember to take good care of yourself too. :)

Best,
Nakamova

I'm new also - my 13 year old dtr also has autism as does my 14 year old son. Both children are adopted and I have an older biological son who is a grad student at UT, Austin. It's hard between the autism and the epilepsy. The autism is somewhat easier now that my kids are older. I feel the epilepsy is harder to work with as the medicine works and then doesn't work or vice versa. The kinds of seizures and how they present changes. As my daughter gets older she has a much harder time dealing with the seizures and understanding what is happening. Good vibes sent your way.
