Hi everyone!
I am new here, my 3 year old son has recently be diagnosed with epilepsy and I am on an infomation bender trying to learn everything I can!
My son also suffers from a condition called Duane's syndrome which affects the optic nerve, I am interested in knowing if anyone else here suffers from this as well as epilepsy.
I look forward to meeting people and finding out alot more about this condition which is currently a bit of a scary mystery to us in our family!
:)

Welcome Fletch

I've found this a great place for info, both peoples experience & research.

I'd recommend you check out the nursery for the experiences of other parents & definitely check out the library..... lots of good stuff there.

Hi, Fletch! And Welcome!

Your child has a great dad - it's wonderful you are in here learning all you can. This forum has been a wonderful source of learning for me. I have a recent diagnosis - just a few months ago. This forum has filled in the information blanks for me on medication, seizures, side affects, and epilepsy in general. It's also a huge source of support when things seem a little too tough to take.

If your son has to have epilepsy, this is a good time in history. There are many more good drugs now (there used to be only about 3-5), and the doctors know much more about the disorder. I'm hoping for good outcomes for your son.

Thank you both for the welcome - I am enjoying exploring the site, loads of info!
BTW, Im actually a mum not a dad - Fletch is my son...perhaps I should change my user name:oops::)

Hey, I love the Fletcha! But Fletch is good, too. It will make him feel special as you read some of the stuff on the site to him. :)

Okay I went to cahnge my name to Fletch's mum but I have no idea how to do it! lol. I guess I am stuck with Fletch now :)

Hi Fletch/Fletch's mum -- welcome to the site!

It's great that you're on an "information vender". Knowledge is power, and the better-equipped you are to ask questions of your health care provider the better. CWE is a great place to ask questions -- the members here have a wide variety of experiences to draw upon. CWE's also a great place to vent, or just find a big dose of empathy when you need one.

Best,
Nakamova
