Hello all. My name is Molly. I just started Vimpat today.I am 49 years old and have had seizures my entire life due to cerebral palsy and a genetic disorder known as PIDD (Primary Immunodeficiency Disease) which is an inherited/genetic disorder aka the 'boy in the bubble' disease. I had partial seizures as a child but then had a traumatic brain injury in 8th grade that left me with severe intractable partial complex/tonic clonic and partial seizures with absence seizures. These happen every day. The last vid testing showed a constant seizure activity in my brain. As a result, I also get these weird eye seizures. Anyway...I have pretty much been toodling along without much support from the internet....I havent been on too long, I did just get a laptop from a friend so finding this group has been good for me. I am very nervous about the Vimpat. I was on long term high dosage of tegretol for many years and I then got what they call a TEN reaction. I had to go into the hospital for some time due to that and everything they tried after that I had very bad reactions to. This is the first new drug I have said yes to in quite some time. My neuro has been patient with me due to the effects of previous meds, but at this stage and age, with the intractables and the danger of just being around and not being able to live alone, I have given in. I just got engaged and do not want to put undo stress onto our relationship either. I came to this group looking for some answers/experiences with Vimpat and I liked what I saw so I joined. Its such a different life than I can explain to my friends and fiance, even tho they go thru it with me. I felt maybe since I am very nervous about this med, it would help to see others and their experiences. Well, thats the basic scoop on me. Glad I'm here. Thanks ahead for any help and support offered. Sincerely, Molly McIntyre :)

If my hummingbird avatar creates any problems with the movement, please let me know...I myself may change it as I as sensitive. My nickname is hummingbird so I thought I would use it, however, not at the expense of someone having a hard time with it. Thank you.

Hi Molly, welcome to CWE!

Make yourself at home! And no need to worry about your avatar, folks can opt out of viewing them if they are sensitive to movement.

Best,
Nakamova
