Hi all my real name is Jennifer I was here before but havnt been doing too good the last few years with my epilepsy so I wasnt hanging out much on the computer.. Tonight I decided I wanted to meet a few people who also have epilepsy and how they cope. I have had epilepsy since I was 14 after a bad fall off my horse. Needless to say she (my horse) stopped in front of a jump and I didnt went right over her head and hit my head (cracked my riding helmet I hit so hard)... these days I pretty much stay at home as I cannot leagally drive as I have way too many seizures ;) anyway thats my story hope to meet some nice people here ;)

Hi, Nala.

I've had my epilepsy since I was 16. It has been under control as long as I take my medicine, but when I stopped for a couple years, it came back with a vengeance. I had never had a grand-mal before I was 26, I think. Worst part was it scared my wife. So 6 months without a license, back on the medicine, and I'm back to good. Were always working with the doctor and even taught him some things. Its a constant struggle to keep the balance of medicine correct.

I like going out and I love driving. I just went racing yesterday! So fun, but staying home is cheap. :) I'll be staying home the next couple weeks to save some money.

See you around and welcome/back?

Thank you for the welcome ...I love driving too but sometimes we dont allways get what we wish for and its probably for the better atleast in my case..I do go out sometimes and drive with another person in the car its been a while though... its allways good to know how to drive in this day and age... so I try to not forget in case of an emergency (I take care of my mom) I will be around for a good while now unless I have more problems ;) take care and again thank you for the welcome back..

Hi and welcome. I was able to keep my license and give up driving. I am now 44 and love not driving (bike, bus, walk year round here). I save a fortune in auto stuff, especially insurance, for me, was killer. I have lost weight and feel better with all the exercise.
I am sorry for what happened to you with the horse. Mine was a motorcycle accident w/ no helmet and hitting a tree with my head that put me into this seizure state. I have issues with meds and side effects (i call them 'effects') and to me this site is a god-send. I share and learn here so much. Hope you can stay around this time.

Hi Jennifer! Like you and Janus, mine also came after a head injury. Like you, mine was due to a horse (this one was crazy wild). I went head-first into the arena panel and wasn't wearing a helmet. I miss driving, too...luckily, I have a daughter at home still and she drives me everywhere. But, I miss just being able to get in my car and go. Welcome back!

Hi Nala, welcome (back)!

I hope you can get your seizures under control. Do you and your neuro have a plan to make that happen? In the meantime, I hope you are able to get out and walk from time to time. I find that not feeling cooped up goes a long way to improving my mood.

best,
Nakamova
