Hello everyone,

I already feel as though I'm near those who truly understand and how we can communicate with ease and comfort here. It might take me a little while to get rolling and you may see why looking at my profile. My story is a complicated one, as we all with epilepsy and our families have complications others may not understand. I can see understanding and support here.

Wonderful to meet all of you.

Welcome! I'm sort of a newbie, too, but I'm already feeling like I found someplace where I can be understood and feel comfortable. Yay!

Welcome, Settingsky.

You're in good company. We all have complicated, entangling, and enamoring stories behind ever curtain. ;)

Hello and nice to meet you!

You sound similar to me in a way. I had my first seizure 11 years ago out of no where. I wasn't a candidate for surgery so I was put on a ton of different meds through the years. If you can name the drug I was probably on it at least once. I don't remember how many I was having a month but I know I was having a ton, mostly only partials.

My neuro suggested getting a VNS, Vagus Nerve Stimulator. It has helped a lot. It's not something that's guaranteed to stop your seizures but it can help decrease the amount you have. I'm still taking meds with it too which he said many people have to.

Now I have on average 7 partial seizures a month. The more stressful things are the more I have. These last few months have been pretty stressful and I've been having a ton of them. I very rarely have TC seizures, maybe one a year.

I you'll get and be able to give a lot of good advice on here! I know I have!

My wife had vns. Had it removed. Like most breakthroughs about a third really helped. A third helped aittle a third no real help all. We were the last third
