I am new to this. If you can't already tell. LOL

I have been having seizures since I was 16. I was told that I inherited epilepsy from someone in my family. Don't know how that could be since in my family I am the only one who has epilepsy.

My first seizure was when I was 16 I was in a seizure for over 20 hrs. They don't know why I had a seizure at that age when I was born with it. They asked if I have had any head injuries and said yes I was in a snowmobile accident when I was 9. But after the snowmobile accident I had other problems I would black out in school when I was reading or wouldn't respond. Just would sit there with a blank stare.

About a month ago I started to have more seizures I have 5 in 4 weeks. 4 grand mals and 1 walking seizure. I was also told that I am having 4 different types of seizures. I was also told that my Left frontal lope is in enlarged and don't know if its been enlarged or if it just became enlarged. They said that, that is where my seizures were coming from and it also is showing on the EEG.

I am just wanting to figure things out since Rochester isn't telling me anything. So I went and found an Epilepsy Center in MN and made an appointment to see if they can tell me whats going on and what could have caused if it was from the snowmobile accident. I am hopping that I will be able to figure things out. I am on 2 different kinds of anti-epilepsy meds. Rochester is wanting to take me off one when with them both its kinda working. But we will see what is said.

Hello and welcome. I am on 3 different kinds of meds. I have between 4 to 5 seizures a month ( which is good for me). My doctors just upped one of my med ( keppra fromm 2000mg to 3000mg, they talking about uping the other two, i will know which ones and the knew strength in March.

I also have no family history of anyone having epilepsy but me. I was born with mine.

Thank you for the Welcome. I am glad that my fiance had found this for me.
I only have about 1 or 2 a month so when I have had 5 in 4 weeks it was kinda concerning to me and my family. I am on 2 different Tegretol 200mg and Lamictal 200mg. My mom and a few members of my family think that mine was caused by a snowmobile accident when I was 9.
I am also wondering if the ones that I am having now wasn't more to do with a car accident that I was in on the 8th of January. But not knowing if my L frontal lope was enlarged because of the accident of if it has been enlarged.

But I'm not complaining I am just wanting to figure this out. I hope that your seizures get better next month.

Well woke up with having small seizures this morning. I hope that things work out here soon and that my meds get sorted out and they can decide what will be the best medication for me. But I am glad that I have found a support system with my family and friends and on here.

I was born with Epilepsy and was having small seizures through out my infant hood, til I was 18 months when I had a grand mal and was first dx'd with Epilepsy. Ive been on several different medications through out my life. Right now, Im on Keppra XR at 3000mgs a day. So far so good.

My epilepsy came out of no where. They still don't know what caused it.

Are they trying to take you off of one med to put you on another?

My neuro has messed around with my meds throughout the years, different meds and dosages.

At first I was having around 3 or 4 seizues a week, pretty bad ones. Now with everything that they've been doing I'm down to about 4 a month. He still works around with my meds trying to make things better now.

I have been to see an epologist she is gonna take a look at the images from rochester and see what she thinks need to be done. rochester wants to take me off one and upped one. but i feel safer being on both at the moment. if she doesn't like what she see's she wants me to come back and to try something else. i didn't have any seizures when i was baby. we are thinking that after an accident when i was 9 is when they came and with all the stress through out the years that i just had a major grand mal seizure. i was in this seizure for over 20 hrs.

My mom seems to think that my hormonal changes could have brought this on, I don't know how old you are, but in 2009 I was 37.....she was one hormones by 45. Everyone is different but I know for me it could be a possibility. P.S. I have 'walking seizures' too...and they scare me to death!!!!

Good luck!
