My name is Ariel. I am 19 years old and started suffering from seizures in October 2011 so I have not suffered that long from them. Doctors keep trying to tell me it is just anxiety even after an ER visit after 5-6 hours of seizures. I never remember anything about them, just get told by my friends and fiance. I also have asthma which acts up when these seizures happen to the point where I stop breathing most of the time when I have them. My fiance tries his best to stay calm, but they frighten hi a lot. I am also expecting my first baby in October. I don't know if its epilepsy or just seizures. Hopefully one of these days a doctor will help me.

Hi Ariel, welcome to CWE!

You need to find a doctor who will help you get a handle on what's going on. Having uncontrolled seizures or asthma attacks can be dangerous for you and for your pregnancy. Have you discussed your symptoms with your OB-GYN? Have you had your hormones tested (fluctuating estrogen levels can be a seizure trigger). Can you think of anything that might be contributing to your seizures? It can be helpful to keep a journal tracking symptoms and other health-related info that might be connected -- stuff like how much sleep you get, what and when you eat and drink, any physical stressors in your environment, etc.

Best,
Nakamova

I have told my ob I suffer from seizures, but I don't know what causes them and they never say anything about it. I haven't had my hormones tested. I am trying to find a doctor who will actually listen to me, but so far I have been unsuccessful.

Hi Soon to be Mommy!

My seizures absolutely got worse during two of my three pregnancies. (My first pregnancy was before my seizures began)
It's scary that you stop breathing because of course you want to make sure your wee little peanut has oxygen levels premium at all times.
I hope that they act quickly and not just explain things away as anxiety.
I hope you get some answers so you can enjoy your pregnancy and not worry.

Thanks LJ-Bain, I really get so frustrated that they just don't seem to care. I honestly wondering if it would even make a difference that I am pregnant.
