well simple partials are not necessarily new to me just identifiable now. How long after having one do the after affects stick around? Five days later I still feel anxiety and nausea and headachey. Amped up my dilantin, so I feel poopy from the seizure and medicine?? Not going to doc, no funds. Any input would be just groovy. Really tired and stressed. Thanks!

It can be different for everyone, but so many days seems a little excessive. Usually with my partials i recover within minutes, but if i have a lot in one day or in a short space of time it can make me feel bad til i've slept it off.

My simple partials clear up pretty quickly as well... how often do you have them? How do they manifest? If it's not to often, maybe the anxiety has to do with the experience and worry about another one coming. nausea can definitely be caused by anxiety. Up-ing your meds can also cause side effects for a while and make you feel "poopy" for a bit, and several can make you very tired. I don't know much about dilantin as I'm allergic to it, but I know lamictal did when I started it...

Are you prone to migraines? I know they can sometimes hang around for days and cause symptoms like you're describing.

Thanks

for such quick reply all. No history of migraines. I probably have not slowed down enough to recover. Other stressers are compounding this I think. What manifest them is the time of year also. The heat and I do not get along. My last SP was last August. I remember the same hang over feelings, just things in the house hold were more fruitful at that time. No jobs and the wolf at the door is making me nuts!! The actual SP last only seconds, in which I am fully aware. Thanks again, my lifeline buddies!

Sounds like you're going through a stressful time. Try and get plenty of sleep and relax some, it may help.

Reading your post, you say that your not going to the doc. because of no funds. Can you call to have your dilantin levels check?

I too am on dilantin, you can get to much and go toxic which is what happened to me. I really don't want to scare you but be careful with taking more dilantin.

My simple partials don't last long at all, after my seizures I am always VERY fearful. I don't if it because I have temporal Lobe of the right side.

I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I did call my health care provider. Said they would cough up a lab order to check my levels w/o seeing the doc. jyearta - I know what you are saying the fear takes on a life all it's own after a SP, along with over whelming sadness. I have been on Dilantin for over 30 years now, and I have been toxic in the past. I am of the firm belief I need to get off and switch meds. I think it has built up in my system even being at theraputic levels.

For me post ictals go by in stages, like sleep, freak out annoyanance that it happened... AGAIN, trouble walking + can't speak right, either eats lots of food or can't eat at all, mood can change if someone says two words or if they look like their gonna do something I won't like my brain just explodes in "F*** you" and then I'm normally able to pass off as normal. But I can still feel it affecting me for almost a week after, it's not fun.

And yes I have simple partials. how bad the postictal really depends on how bad the seizure was.

all the Neuro. plus my FP has tried all the other medic. on me in hopes of coming off dilantin, however since 2004 they have NOT been able to find one that works for me.

Some brought on siezures and others I couldn't live with the side effects.

I'm now on dilantin 400mg a day and clonazepam 0.5mg- generic for klonpin taking 1/2 tablet every four hours except at 10:00pm at which time I take a whole tablet.

It's a big pain having to take medic. every 4 hours, but I have to remind myself to be thankful, with this I'm not having seizures.

I hope that another medic. will work for you.

Keep me posted.

input

very useful info on the seizure and meds. I have Valium that I take when needed, and it is helpful for the hang over after SP. Last evening felt more normal than all week, woke up and having trouble going back to sleep. Nice to be able to get up and get on CWE with the amazing group on here!! Yall' have my admiration.
