Not quite sure how to begin, I guess its best to describe what happened or what I think I saw happen with my Wife.
to begin, my Wife and I were in the process of getting ready to move, and she was also working a lot of overtime. The morning of September 22nd, she wasn't feeling right, and decided to sleep a little longer before she was going to go into work that Saturday. She got up to use the restroom, and then on the way back to the bedroom, she went shoulder first into the wall, turning on a hallway light, started to fall back, then fell face first into the wall. I don't dare say luckily, but "luckily", she barely hit her head/face on the wall, she kind of went knees down, the fell forward, and thank God, no broken nose or head injuries.
A little later on, she went to go to the bathroom, and I was in the living room trying to figure out if we need to go to a doctor to make sure she doesn't have a concussion or anything. That's when I heard a noise coming from the bathroom, that sounded like a dog growling. I rush into the room, and her eyes are wide open, her mouth is wide open and her hands and arms are contorting. How she didn't fall of the seat I don't know, but she was almost parallel off the seat. What scared me was the pupal of her eye was so wide, and she was very dark grey. It seemed to go on for over a minute, and she was slowly coming out of it. She was very weak after so I helped her back to bed and about a half an hour later, I helped her to the restroom because she was going to get sick and had a bad migrane.

I decided to take her to the ER because she was very weak, and not feeling well at all. Her family met us to take her there, and the ER visit said she had a "bug" that was making her pass out. We asked the Doctor a few times if it could have been a seizure, but she kept saying what we saw was my wife passing out.
Her mom who has seizures, but takes medication said it sure sounded like a seizure to her.
3 days later, we were back in the ER, because my wife still doesn't feel right and she was admitted to the Hospital because they found blood in her stool. She receives 2 pints of blood overnight, and do a scope down the throat and find out she had a bleeding ulcer.
Long story short, with research I have done on this site, I wonder if what I saw was actually a seizure. I know they can happen from different situations, but if she was just fainting, wouldn't she have had different results?
Thank you for reading my long post and for any information. it is very appreciated.

Hi Huskerfan4life

What you described sounds like a seizure to me. It seems the doctors didn't want to 'deal with it' and prematurly dismissed it as something else. Espacially given a family history of seizures. I would press her general practitioner about this and see if you can investigate further.

Read around on the forum, there is a wealth of information here and good luck :D

I agree with P-Funk -- ER docs aren't always comfortable diagnosing seizures unless they actually witness them in the hospital. That said, there's still a good possibility that the seizure is an isolated event related to the blood loss from the bleeding ulcer. The bleeding could cause very low blood pressure which could in turn trigger the seizure. Either way, it would be nice to have more information. A referral to a neurologist and/or a cardiologist might help put your mind at ease.

Hope you and she feel better soon.

Best,
Nakamova

ER doctors are nice but when it comes to saying someone has a seizure, they will send you for a lot of tests but they will never say its epilepsy, so seeing a neurologist could be a good idea and push your GP to get this looked after. As P-Funk and Nakamova have said to you already and you need to ease the stress. But what you describe does sound like a seizure.

Thank you so much for the information, from what I have gathered it looks like an isolated event. My heart goes out to everybody for the information.

Sounds like she had like a strong Myoclonic Jerk or maybe even a drop seizure in the first case. I've had that before. Similar situation, up to use the bathroom and on the way back, lost all control of my limbs for like half a second and dropped and just hit whatever was between me and the floor.

Obviously the stomach ulcer has a good chance of influencing what happened, but it would be worth just educating yourselves on the first aid for seizures so that you're prepared for it if (and hopefully that's a big if) it happens again.
