My Name is Phil
I have Epilepsy - seizures due to left temporal lobe lesion.
Ive had more then a few epilepsy spells and a couple Grand mal seizures in my 46 years of life but didn't know it till my mid 20s.
At age 25 I had a grand mal seizure in front of friends , rushed to emergency room were cat scan was given but nothing found. A week later I followed up with Physician and was given MRI & bingo cystic lesion was found in left temporal lobe.
Surgery was offered but risk was high in that day and time and have been managing with meds....currently Lamictal 2mg a day.
The med has eliminated full blown seizures but still have spells-occasional Simple Partial Seizures that can be scarey as heck sometimes.

Phil-

warm welcome Phil

My Son has Epilepsy, he is 28...no reason we can find/see in his brain, but we know who complex the brain is...

good to hear your T/C are under control.....yes, the SP can be scary for sure.....my Son describes his scariest as starting with a feeling of great/pleasant sensation, then the feeling of doom is overwhelming.....

lots of great people here at CWE to talk to, relate to, vent to, learn from and no doubt we will learn from you too...

we glad to have u on board..

Hi Phil,

I struggle from time-to-time with simple partials. Had my first TC a few years back. Ever since then, I have been more strict with my meds an getting things under control.

welcome.

Phil-

welcome friend,
we have e in common that's for sure!
-had it for years (since i was 15 but didn't get diagnosed until 10 years ago at age 25)
-left temporal lobe lesion
-simple partials and grand mals
-one of my meds is lamictal as well (they didn't do me great or worse so will be off aug 2014 if i'm still seizure-free)
-my simples have always been fear-based, had well over 1000, so i assume your area of s.p's (there is 4 main areas) is 'psychic'... very awful.

-surg offered to me too but after debating with myself to hell and back i decided yes almost two years later. surg was in august and 149 days seizure-free today!

HUGS and happy new year phil, ya came to the right place :)

Currently you are on 2 mg of Lamictal? That sounds like a very low dose. I am on 150mg per day and still increasing every two weeks.

Hi, I'm brand new to this forum. I read your post about left frontal lobe..... that's what I have too. I hope you don't mind me asking but Do you suffer from headaches more days than not?
