Hello everyone, my name is Amanda. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy a little over 5 years ago. As far as meds go, ive tried quite a few and seem to be having the most luck with Keppra which i take 1000mg 2x a day.

Enough about that... I am 30 years old and live in the suburbs of Chicago. I work as a Special Education Teacher Aide and I am going to grad school at night to get my masters in special ed and my certification to teach. I currently work in an Autism classroom at a middle school.

I am glad to have found this website. I have only ever met one other person who has epilepsy, but she moved away. I was still living in Michigan where i went to college when my E started so no one is my family has ever experienced me having a seizure. The few that I have had since I have been home have all been in my sleep with no witnesses. So my family although supportive of me doesn't always understand my mood swings, or extreme exhaustion the morning after.

I look forward to conversing with you, and building friendships.

Hi Amanda!

I'm a substitute teacher and writer, with a son who has Asperger's. I like working in the resource rooms, and have started working on my master's in Special Ed as well, but since all 3 of my kids are in college right now, it's on the back burner for the time being.

You're a few hours away from me. How cool!

Welcome to CWE. I'm sure you're going to like it here with all the nooks and crannies and friends to be made. Make sure you check out the Library and the Kitchen for information. If you need to do some venting, the Padded Room is always available. Hehehe. I think we've all been there at least a time or two.

Feel free to kick up your feet and hang out. Maybe Buckeye or Eric will bring around some decent beverages......I keep burning the coffee (decaf of course).

Bernard has made it out of love for his wife Stacy. That love has permeated throughout the whole forum.

I am glad you are teaching Special Ed. I should have gone to college to teach it myself. I regret the fact that I did not. I taught 2 of my children, who were in Special Ed, when they came home from school. The teacher's could not understand why they were ahead of the other students. I knew how to teach Special Ed to my children. It just takes time and patience. To get the right materials, they said I had to be a teacher. I told them that I was. After all, I was teaching my children.
