Hi! I'm new so I just thought I would share a little bit about myself :)

I'm Juliet. 30 years old and have been living with Epilepsy since I was 10. Right now I'm now Tegretol and it seems to be working. I have about 3-5 tonic clonic seizures a week usually occuring before I fall asleep, while I'm alseep or after I wake up.
I live in New York City with my husband and 3 kids. My husband is a Cardiac Surgeon and a couple years ago when my seizures where not controlled (about 5 t/c seizures a day) I had to quit my job as a Natural Sciences Manager so for now I'm a stay at home mom and it's so great :)

I'm hoping to meet other people with epilepsy here seeing that's in the 20 years I've had it I've only met a handful of people.

Hi, Juliet. Glad you've joined us. It probably sounds strange to anyone not familiar with adult onset epilepsy, but I've sometimes wished my seizures had started when I was a child. I envy you!

I'm not in NYC, but maybe you will meet someone here who is.

Hi, Juliet. And welcome!

Wow, 5 t/c's a day is unthinkable to me. You are an incredibly strong woman to have made it through that, and to manage 5 a week now. It's GREAT that you are a stay at home mom. You have lucky kids! :)

And Carlos, yes, that does sound strange. (laughing) I'd love to hear your thinking on that one. I just want my epilepsy to go away. As in, never-onset epilepsy.

Hi Juliet -
My daughter also has tonic clonic seizures which began at 14. She is 18 now and we seem to be controlling them with nutritional means. It hasn't been a quick fix, but it sure beats the increase in seizures she had when on medication.

I hope you find the support you are looking for here at CWE
WELCOME

Hi, hello

and how do you do, Juliet??

It's very nice to meet you! I'm glad you've found your way here to our sweet home that Mr B has built for us. :) It's really pretty awesome, with all sorts of nooks and crannies for you to check out.

That's a pretty decent drop in seizures there. :) Do you keep an E journal to help determine why you're still having the others? You could be like some of us (me being one of them) and have nutritional issues that cause problems. (NO JOKE).

Other things to consider are hormones, sleep issues, stress and more. Keeping that E journal will help you--even tracking TV/Computer and video game usage may help you discover whether or not your photosensitive or not.

Good luck, and take care,

Meetz

JulietElizabeth30,
Hello.
My DD, 14 was diagnosed with Epilepsy in 2008. She still has 2 seizures per week. She very embarrassed about it and hates it that her peers at school have seen her have a seizure in class.

We just added a new drug to her med schedule -- brand name Lamictal. She has had good success with generic Trileptal, but not able to gain complete control with it. I am switching it to brand name at our next refill, in hopes that it may make a difference.

She had partial multi focal epilepsy (Occipital and Frontal Lobes). Sometimes she has clusters of Occipital seizures.

Well that's our story--nice to <meet> you!
Endless is right --you are incredibly strong --keep going forward--you'll find this community to be everything you've hoped to find!:woot:

Welcome to CWE Juliet! Feel free to ask questions, vent if needed, and chime in all you want. :) (I'm a mommy too! )

Welcome Juliet,

Sorry to hear you're still having 3-5 TC seizures a week, although that is much better than 5 a day. Still a bit much, IMO.
I had 4-5 CP seizures that could generalize to TC before I had brain surgery. Back then, I was married to a pilot, had 2 children and also I was a stay at home mom, due to the circumstances.
A life full of challenges! I hope you are well taken care of.

Carlos- Mine was adult onset epilepsy and I feel like Endless, I wish that is was never-onset epilepsy. A life of Hell! What is there to be envious about?
