Good Day.
I was searching the internet for information and came across this forum. My son, at 7 months old, had a left side focal seizure (Jan. 2012). The seizure lasted between 45 min to 1 hour. At the hospital he received two rounds of ativan and was sent for a CT scan and chest x ray. Both came back negative. He came around very quickly and was back to his happy self after the sedative wore off. He spent the night in hospital for observation and came home the next day and we have not experienced another seizure. He had an EEG on February 15 and an MRI on Feb. 16. The MRI was not completed because he went into cardiopulmonary arrest. We are still not sure as to what happened. The hospital is conducting an investigation. He does not appear to have been affected by it and is back to his happy self. We went to see a Neurologist on Monday at Sick Kids and were given the report on his EEG.
"Classification:
Dysrhythmia Grade IV right occipital and mid temporal spike; generalized, non-specific, delta grade II right occipital - parietal-posterior mid temporal.
Clinical Interpretation:
The recording shows a striking abnormality in the right posterior head, strongly suggestive of a structural abnormality. It is likely the seizure arose from either the right occipital or right mid-temporal sites where interictal epileptiform discharges are prominent"
I am trying to find information relating to the dysrhythmia grades but so far have not found out much or what they mean. Any insight, advice would be appreciated.
We are scheduled for another MRI within the next 2 months and to say I am a little nervous is an understatement. Harrison is our miracle baby as we were told we could not have children. I am scared, frustrated with the lack of information from the doctors and tired.
