Glad you are BOTH here Steve and Kimmee. Welcome. Take your shoes off and have some water and stay a while (would have said a soda but Mom might say no, :roflmao:) Hope you find a second home here. I have.

OH, I've been picking about on my pics for an avatar, can't decide if I use the TRUE ziggidypoo, my cat, or something pretty???

Anyway, as far as memory goes - mine went!!!

So, feel at home, we almost all have memory problems.

Some of us worse than others.

Steve

You have touched my heart.

I never did good in history and my son did not do good in school at all, had to be home-schooled. One whole year he had to take care of me, it set him so far back that he dropped out and went into JOB CORP, got his GED and then, later, through them, a real DIPLOMA, by doing the same type of home-schooling booklets. Doing the schoolwork at his own time.

He is now a semi-truck driver and making a great living.

I was so sick, I had to let his aunt - his father's sister-in-law - finish raising him from almost 13 up until he left for JOBCORP.

I feel for you Steve, I really do.

YOU WILL MAKE IT WITH A MOM LIKE SHARON - GO BRAIN~!!!!

Swannee River

Brain (Sharon) regarding the song, WOW,

first, I did not know it was OUR song (I live in Miami)

second, I knew the slaves had it really bad but WOW (Carey is African/American or Black)

third, there's been times I could've cried that song except I'd have to say, where is home, I have no home to run to but here. (long story)

Feel like crying, but wont'.

Brain, :)
WWWOOOWWW!!! That is awesome! I never knew the real history of that, because I was the kid in school drawing in the back of the class, being ignored, because I had ADHD. (back then , they didnt quite know what to do with us) SO, now that I have learned this, I will share it with my babies and my siblings. That is a song to stay in my heart. I thank you for teaching me that, from the bottom of my heart. Oh, and a question: My sister once dated a history teacher, and he said that the "African Americans" sold their OWN people into slavery. Most people today blame only the whites, but they should not, because they, themselves started all that. So, all the hatred they feel for the whites, is simply from misunderstanding. I am NOT saying it was ok, as per I am AGAINST any racism, or cruelty, I am just curious as to the facts; I love to learn the truth in our history. Is any of that true? ( now you have got my brain going, and thirsting for more, lol) :) Thank you!!!!!!!

KimmyBear here - Steve says what mom says is true. Florida was different from everywhere else.

Thank you both. :):):) ;) We went to the Lake Kissimmee state park today for my bday, and It was a blast! :) nothing bad happened. ( I was scared) whew! ttyl guys! :)

That is awsome. I remember going to Georgia years ago. There was such a different feeling there than you get in seattle. There is a "different" stigma of blacks and whites. It was like a different country. It was lovely.

Wow! Awesome. You know your history, lol.
I feel the same passion about my Cherokee ancestors.:) The whole Trail of Tears thing, and well, that istoo much for me to go into tonight, lol.
by the way, I went to the state park, and everything was perfect! :):):) I will be awaiting more history from you, whenever you feel like tellin' it.:) Thank you for both teaching and entertaining me.

Still Dancing 98,
Hey you! I have lived in GA, and I LOVED it there. I am trying to move there again soon. Everyone where I lived (Blackshear) was SO nice to each other. I could leave my doors unlocked, and my windows open, my kids could play outside! The crime there was nearly none. Maybe one day I will live in the mountains again; I LOVE the mountains! :)

Addylanda, Jawja - y'all say?

Re-enactments in Texas

Hi Steve and Kim. Nice to meet you.
We have re-enactments in Texas too. I don't do then, but my co-worker is very into them. She was born to an actual army officer, so her and her husband get to be officers in the 'daughters of the civil war' club. She just spent this past weekend at camp Ben.

In view of the fact that I'm in an interracial long-term relationship and he has roots going back to slavery - umm uhhh - hey, I LOVE the NEW pic!!! Love horses!! Reminds me of the day of riding bareback on an ole boney horse. I used to LOVE to ride horses. Once a friend and I rode horses at the Patapsco State Park and there was still a bit of snow on the ground. It was a blast. I USED to do a LOT of things - sigh - things of the past.......

Golden Gate

The Golden Gate Bridge on San Francisco has a very high suicide rate as well. Very few people survive the impact. They do it because it is so high, there is no turning back.
