a little about me.
my name is mike. im from texas. i have epilepsy , and my friends sister has it too.
i have mostly absence, but have had a few complex partials.

i did get the luck of the draw to have ulcerative colitus also, given thats more recent in my life its been the bigger adjustment. not fun finding favorite foods aren't good to eat anymore.

that aside i like to play hockey, im a goalie. mostly play roller but i really love to get out on the ice when i can.
i also love playing video games, and would like a career making video games in the future.

Hi mikepen0287,welcome to CWE!

CWE's founder, Bernard, is from Texas too. :)

There may be a link between your ulcerative colitis and your seizures. Gut issues can have an effect on how well the brain functions, though it's not well-understood yet. They may play a role as primary or secondary triggers for seizures. Many folks have found that dietary approaches like a gluten-free or low-carb diets helps reduce their seizures. Hi Mike, welcome to the forum. :hello:

Greetings mikepen0287, This is a very good place where you can find answers and people to chat with. Very good group here... spend a bit of time at CWE, read, chat, and ask questions to people, you will see.

While a disease I have to deal with is somewhat similar to yours (diverticulosis), where my diet had to change bigtime, I must say it is in a different field as my seizure life. Anyhow I checked out a couple of those links Nakamova posted and, interesting to read... Again, welcome.

oh ive only had ulcerative colitus for two years got diagnosed little before my birthday.. still finding foods i can't eat this late in the year. but given still getting used to that its tended to cause more seizures then the other way around. though my seizure life has been somewhat managable aside from the complex partials life wants to throw in.

Hey Mike.

I used to have the simple partials, and complex partials rather often. Everything is controlled now. I'm a active person and enjoy video games as well. In fact, recently when I had a 3 day EEG, I spent pretty much all three days playing Xbox. :D

Its my bedtime...
Welcome, friend.

thanks everybody for the warm welcome. though i didnt really know about my complex partials till a few weeks ago. caught it on a video i was trying to shoot. that was a surprising surprise. figure i just have to get used to it again.

welcome mike :)
and hugs on the complex partials, they are considerably among the worst types of seizures, mentally and for safety. IMO good to hear about the tegretol, my med of choice also (tho i'm on the generic brand carbamazepine), tried four and after recent brain surg i'm going off them all except that. doesn't seem to be one well-known for side-effects like so many others... hope it works well for you; we're on the same dose as well.
