HI! I'm Dispatch! I learned about ya'll thru Bernard & Birdbomb on the VNS Message Board. Thought I'd become a member, get to know you folks, contribute best I can, and do lots of learning.

I have had seizures from a TBI since 1994. My seizure types vary. I have tonic/clonic (last one in Feb. this year), partial complex (last one about 2 months ago), and my docs are thinking I have absence seizures more often than I realize. I have tried a wide variety of seizure meds from Phenobarb, Depakote, Lyrica, Neurontin, Trileptal, Topamax, Keppra, and quite a few others I don't remember the names...bunches. My seizure activity is fairly well controlled, and at one point, I had 3 years seizure free. It depends on my stress level, health, eating, & sleep.

In 2006, I was implanted with a Vagus Nerve Stimulator for Depression. After suffering horrific side effects & adverse events, the device was shut off and I have had a complete explant including coils. I stimulated 13 months before I found out I was not a proper candidate for the device due to significant TBI. The device increased my brain injury difficulties significantly. I had short term relief by use of the device from depression, but it made me so physically sick, I no longer was receiving any benefit.

Currently I am taking 1,500 mg of Keppra twice daily. My Neuro started me on Trileptal approx 2 months ago, and it didn't take long to become toxic, so that med was discontinued, and the Keppra increased. I have noticed when my Keppra is adjusted, I become more emotional than what is normal for me. I have also been experiencing increased aggitation as well. It has been a rollercoaster lately. Keppra has not been the only med that has had this effect on me. I'd like to blame these things on some life experiences going on right now, but it has been reality that the AED is playing a huge roll in my psychological state.

Anyhoo...just wanted to say HI! I look forward to getting to know ya'll, and hope I can learn bunches from ya.

Have a great night!

Nice to meet you dispatch! I'm Karen, I'm new here as well. Keppra gave me rage and agitation as well. I didn't even like myself much less anyone else while I was on that stuff! Hang in there.
I look forward to talking to you.
Take Care,
Karen

Hi Dispatch! Welcome to CWE. As you can see, a friendly group of people. Several people here have taken Keppra and noted the emotional issues. Some of them have taken vitamin B6 to help even their emotional keel. Anyway, feel free to ask questions, chime in, or just vent in the padded room when necessary. :)

Hi Dispatch - Welcome to CWE
It is my daughter that deals with the seizures, and it is I that have done the research on the subject. This has been one place that I have been able to do that.

Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Hello Dispatch~

I want to Thank You so much for the great responses you send on the VNS board. I am happy to see you pop-up on the CWE Board. I hope you enjoy this board. Take care.

About time you showed up! :pfft:

You are going to be very pleasently surprised with this site. It's got EVERYTHING! Kick off yer shoes, I'll get you a big glass of iced tea.

(HEY Mr. B...now about my commission check...)

Hi D - ignore what's between the lines! *grins*

:hello: "D"

Welcome to CWE! Birdy does a great job of
lassoing (You owe Birdy big time Mr. B!) good
folks from the VNS Board (I know Mr. B reads
between the lines)! I'm over there but not really
over there that much (Yes, you Mr. B!) We'll get
a kick out of having you here! (Pay Up Johnny
Neurofeedbackseed!) So feel free here!

THANKS for the AWESOME Welcome!

HI ALL!

What a nice welcome! Thanks!

Skillefer...I will look into Vitamin B6, I would rather take a supplement than a pharmacutical...THANKS for the suggestion!

Karen, sounds like you & I have got somethings in common...I'm not liking me too much right now. Can't figure out if I want to be mad or sad (both make me cry). This high a dose of Keppra makes me feel physically yucky as well.

ashmstng...You are more than welcome, and thanks for the compliment!

Birdbomb...make that a big ol' glass of Texas sweet tea!

RobinN...If I remember correctly, I read your daughter does NFB. I am getting more active in researching this form of treatment. It seems to me it can help me not only with seizures, but with depression, and other things that have tagged along with TBI.

Bernard...great site! **Giggle** seems to me you owe somebody some $$$ or a favor!

Brain...From what I've read so far, I think I'll get a kick outta being here, too!

I really look forward to getting to know ya'll. Again, thanks so much for the warm welcome, and I hope I didn't leave anyone out in my responses.

Dispatch;-)

Welcome!!!

It is always good to have another Texan on board!

We are going to take over yet! :woot::banana::cowboy:

You might notice I am a wee bit prejudiced about it. ;)

(HEY Mr. B...now about my commission check...

That looks like a blank check to me! HAHA!

Hey TexasTravel! Thanks for the welcome! I see quite a few Texas folks here! I've been in Texas for almost 6 years. So far, my favorite parts are eastern Texas around the Lake Conroe/Montgomery area.

;-)

Welcome!

I think that adjustment you went through may be something others noticed when they switch from generic to brand, brand to generic or from one generic company to another generic company with or without Keppra.

It sounds like a major change you had there. Hopefully things will stabilize and improve over time.

HI alivenwell!

THANKS for the welcome & your good wishes! I hope there is quite a degree of stability & improvement soon!

My Neuro has always prescribed brand-I had her explain to me the difference-and I explained the difference in copay! LOL!

;-)

Hey Dispatch,

Welcome to the loony bin!

We're all pretty good sports about everything and a great support system for one another.

Mr. B rules here :mrt: (pay-up Mr. B...sign the check) :pfft:

I am a humble member of the seizure flock that gathers at CWE to laugh and learn. ;)

Glad you found us. (And I'll take a glass of that sweet tea!) -Julie

HI Julie!

THANKS for the welcome and I share a glass of sweet tea with ya!

Have a great one!

;)

Hi, hello and

how do ya do? I have failed miserably in introducing myself before this I see, and for that, I do apologize.

Mr B has made this an AWESOME home here for us here at CWE. All the different rooms to go exploring in....

You'll just have to help us get him to sign that check over to Birdy now..... LOL

Take care!
