Hi!
First of all thanks to everyone for the site, its good to know we're not alone. I've had simple and complex partial seizures since i was five, and recently have also stared having physical convulsions. I've dropped down to 1500 mg of keppra because im about to begin trileptal as an adjunct. I have used tegretol before, but I really struggled to stay awake and function in regards to work.I understand trileptal is better tolerated than tegretol, but im just wondering how people find trileptal and how long it took to get used it, (work etc) and has it been effective ?

Thanks again everyone,
hope your all well.

Jim

My daughter was given tegretol as her first AED. It caused severe vision problems (might also have been due to hypoglycemic issues that are currently being looked at). Her forth med was trileptal. It caused throat abscesses, and was immediately discontinued.

I've been on trileptal since Dec. I have a hard time staying awake and have to drink coffee in the AM to get through. It usually takes about 1/2 hour for the drowsiness to wear off even with the caffeine. My mouth gets tingly as if I'm having an allergic reaction and sometimes my lips and tongue get numb. I'm still having seizures all though I seem to be more aware of whats going on during them now. I'm probably weaning off it soon to try hormonal support. Depekote was far worse for me though.

Hi jimimenez, Welcome to CWE. You will find that we are a friendly bunch here.

I have never been on tripilepta. I was on Tegretol for a long time. Now, I am off of it. I am on 1500 mg of the generic Keppra. It is working for me. My neurologist is slowly taking me off of Neurontin. Every 3 months he lowers the dose. I am also on Clonazepam, Lamictal and Mysoline for my seizures. Be sure and accept friendship requests. You make a lot of friends that way. Welcome to the forum again.

It was started by Bernard for his wife. It is a forum made up of love.

I was on trileptal and am off of it now, and am currently in the hospital being weened off of Keppra to induce a seizure, and hoping I get put on something else.
