I just joined this site to meet new people, and hopefully help a few out along the way! I have had grand mal seizures for the last 10 years after hitting my head on marble tile. The good news is I have the under control mostly. I previously went almost 2 years with no seizures until my orthopedic put me on a pill for pain that causes seizures(I had to have my shoulder rebuilt after a seizure messed it up). I think you know what happened next... On a lighter note the meds I'm on now work great for me and have little side effects! I live in South Carolina now, but I spent most of my life in Florida. I am 24 now and finally able to go to college full time! I had a lot of problems in the past with being able to get to classes, and having DR visits all the time didn't help either. So here is a little about myself and I hope I get to make some good friends on here!

Welcome!

I am in the same boat. Smacked my head multiple times when I was younger throughout school. Paying for it later in life now with grand mal seizures.

Welcome to CWE,

you're going to love it here. Wonderful group of people from all around the world.

I have no experience with grandmal / tonic clonic seizures at all. Still cloudy of aura's and simple partial seizures. I've only been taking divalproex for 4 months. It seems to be helping. Still dealing with cognitive and confusion issues which seem to be getting worse. Wondering? do you or have experience aura's even tho you don't have seizures? if so, what type? and last question do you have spontaneous twitching? I was going to post a new thread about my fingers, arms and legs twitching without my permission to do so.

Oh one more question, how long after your head injury before you started experiencing seizures? Did the grandmal come first or did you have aura's first?

Again welcome to CWE : )

Hi noah, welcome!

Our of curiosity, which meds are working for you now, and what dosage are you on?

Like you I've had to have much work done on my shoulder due to damage from seizures. But as far as I know, the pain meds I was given after both surgeries didn't trigger anything. Which med was the culprit for you?

Welcome to CWE,

This is a very helpful forum. It also means a lot to know you are not alone.

Welcome! This group is great. I found it doing a google search when I was first diagnosed, and it's been a huge source of support and information :)

Glad to hear that your meds are working too :)
