Hello to everyone. I've been coming to this site since around the beginning of October, and learnt a lot of thing here.
I guess I should start by saying last January,I had a stroke and things seemed pretty good.I pretty much changed my whole life style, eating healthier, stopped drinking, and getting exercise by walking to where I needed to go.Seeing as the DR had told me no driving for 6 months.
Well anyway I decided to go for a walk after work like I do many times. I remember feeling kind of funny and the next thing I know someone is standing over and behind me,I guess the paramedic's,telling not to move becouse I had broken my arm!!
Later at the hospital was told that I had a grand mal seizure there on the side of the road and that I had epilepsy from how the test looked that they did on me. I got to be truthful and tell you that it really scared me to no end,and yeah still a little scared, but I keep living my life as best as I can!
Just wanted to post that coming here reading the post form all of you has helped me to understand more about whats going on with me and my epilepsy, and made thing a little less scary.

Hi highway man, welcome to CWE!

I'm sorry about the stroke, and your recent seizure. Epilepsy can feel pretty scary, especially right after diagnosis, so I'm glad CWE has helped a bit with that. I hope you feel free to ask any questions that come up as you adjust and cope. Now that you're an "official" member we can show you the secret handshake and give you a key to the executive washroom...

Best,
Nakamova

Hi highway man,

Glad to meet you.

I know how you feel. I have fallen down and awaken with paramedics looking at me. I have a MedicAlert bracelet so they know that I have epilepsy. It is a good idea if you get one.

What medications are you on?

You will like it here. Bernard made this forum out of love for his wife Stacy. That love permeates throughout the whole forum.

There are many places to search out in this large forum. You all ready know your way around, it sounds like.

Welcome, sorry to hear about the struggles you've had to endure. It is a scary feeling waking up to paramedics. Glad to know you have some relief from the information on the forum. Finding people who can relate can ease many worries.

Hi and welcome,

I'm sorry to hear of your stoke and E. diag.

I found this forum about 1 1/2 ago. I was frustrated with NO help from Dr.

I have learned more on this forum, well I feel I could write a book on all the inform. that these people are willing to share. My life is so much better, hope the same for you.

Feel free to ask any questions are concerns you have. You are among friends here.

No one told me the secret handshake! No fair! Hehe.

This place is the best thing on the internet. So much info, and if you can't find it, ask it! Best part is, you'll get the info and a pat on the back for staying strong. :)

Good luck, my new buddy!

Good Day!
Your name now has that Alfred Noyes poem stuck in my head, like an ear worm.
the wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees, the moon was ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas....

I have found that epilepsy has provided me with some unexpected blessings. Maybe I just count them now. Who knows.

hi sorry rough time you have had...
the one thing i always tell people is people who know they got ep and being treated are the safest in the world....i so glad i found this site as i learnt so much,i gave up talking to dr's they never seem to understand as some odd things with ep that can be frustrating and you tend suffer in silence i have felt great relief to know how common these things are within circle of people with ep....and who knows you may never have seziour again it happens

Here is the secret handshake.:shake:

Cheers we share coffee or some other drink. Shake, the second one is really the secret handshake.

What medicines are you on? Have you gone to the DMV to see if you can drive?

I decided on my own not to drive when I was 16 years old. I was afraid that I could have a seizure and hurt someone or myself. I am 69 now. I have never regretted that deciscion.

It is up to you, though. I was telling you how I feel.

Hello and welcome to the party! We are all in the same boat to one extent or another. You will never be judged or put down here. Chances are that someone or more of us have experienced the same things that you do. I am sorry that you have had a rather rough time lately. Hopefully your paramedics were cute?
