Hi. I'm Penny. This is my first post here. I developed epilepsy after having a stroke july 2012. I have complex partial seizures that carry over into generalized at times too. I am on Lamictal, trileptal and started on Topamax last Thursday at 25mg 2xs day will go up 50mgs 2xs day this Thursday and so on until 100mgs 2xs daily. I had been on it years ago for my bipolar. Never did anything for it. I am on a boat load of meds though when you include the meds for it to though.
I have 2 children, a girl 22, a boy 20. neither one are married yet and no grandchildren yet either. They live in the same small town I do so I get to see them often and they help me out sence I cant drive so its hard to get around.
I walk at the Y daily and help in the childrens programs there too.
Looking forward to having a place to go and people to talk with about my illness that understand.

Hi Penny!
Welcome!!!
What pare of Illinois are you writing from?
That sounds like quite a cocktail of meds. How are you managing with any side effects?
Hope all went well with your walk this morning!
Again welcome!

I am from West Central Il.. I have been pretty tiered the last several days since I started the topamax. A little nauseated a while after eating too. It goes down ok but hits about 20 - 30 minutes later. Hopefully it wont last long.

Thanks for the welcome!

Is it recommended to take that medication with food or something to absorb it into the blood a little easier? I take Vimpat and if I do not eat anything, I become Captain Spaceout of the 23rd and 1/4 century. =)

Welcome, Penny.
I'm Bernie's sidekick, Spaceout Jr.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I'm from St Louis and have been dealing with E for 12 years, I think.

Welcome again. :)
