I am Currently taking 3000mg of Keppra, and until last Thursday 100mg of Lamactal, my new neurologist doubled the dose to 200mg and Saturday night for the first time in over a year I had a seizure where i lost consciousness and shook, it only lasted 20 seconds, but it has me puzzled. I wonder if the meds had anything to do with it or if it would have happened regardless. The whole reason my dose was raised to begin with is because i was having an increased amount of absent seizures. This disease is so frustrating, I just went from being comfortable driving to being cautious getting out of bed. Thoughts appreciated.

it could have just happened regardless, you should contact your neurologist and let them know what has happened then see how you feel over the next couple of weeks

It takes a while for the meds in your system to adjust to the change. This is why you should give new dosages or new meds at least a month or two to work.

A fast increase from 100mg of Lamictal to 200mg seems pretty dramatic to me, and could be the cause of your seizure. Ordinarily the rule for ramping up is "low and slow", especially with Lamictal. That means a gradual increase in 25mg increments spread out over several weeks to a month -- not a one-day 100mg jump.

I was going to say the same thing. When my dr tried me on Lamictal last year, he said we must go slowly with this medication. I think a huge jump like that could cause a seizure to occur.
