is this a common thing?
I'm getting it it seems.
I had this pain once before after a seizure. I did some pretty extreme stretching though, heard a "pop" and relieved it - but the "pop" noise scared me last time, so I don't want to do that again. I thought I might have popped my hip out of joint or something at first. I didn't know what it was until today from looking up the trochanter, where the pain is obviously coming from. Then I gradually started recalling some things I heard at the hospital that seemed to relate to this topic, but I didn't quite recall because I was postictal and out of it.
It seems I should be able to get it fixed pretty easily though which is good.

It's getting that the only way to stand comfortably is like this

, which is making walking around uncomfortable... because walking around naked is garnering me a lot of attention

Gosh Peter, you're very tall...

You might want to check in with a physical therapist about the hip pain. They can give you exercises to help, and they can let you know if the "popping" thing is okay to do.
