No my life is boring, all I do is work and then come home to the computer and listen to music and watch tv programmes to keep me happy.

I like to do that sometimes. Nothing wrong with it if you enjoy it.

I had 21 wonderful years with Mozart; they were magical with he and Tango teaching me so much. I did realize that what I was grieving for was the future we would not have. And I wondered how I could ever find a horse who was Mozart's rightful successor. I do believe Mozart had it all planned out. Because I started to look at just the right time. He led me to thru numerous websites and finally to a link that had a picture of a Hanoverian out of top bloodlines. There mom, that's my successor! Weltcom was a show jumper and then did well in dressage tests. I find it magical how he fits in so incredibly well with our family. He and Tango bonded immediately and are best of friends. And he is calm and patient with me and so very willing to dance when I "get it right".

I know what you mean about the affording lessons. I solved that by marrying my trainer! We bought of farm in upstate New York and bred Andalusian stallions to Thoroughbred mares. We bred Tango which makes him really special.

Horses really are the most wonderful of God's creatures!

Best of luck with your mare!

I can't afford a new horse now, but I've looked at Spanish Sport Horses in case I want to get into Endurance. I really like Working Equitation as well, but I don't think I'm a talented enough equestrian. Do you like their personalities?

I absolutely love horses. After my dad died when I was really young my mom got horses so we had them when I was young. After we sold them, I knew I wanted to get my "dream horse." Then I got my mare and she literally saved my life.

Thanks, and same to you!

Your question made me think of our 2 stallions. Their personalities and temperaments were as different as night & day. Tesoro had very much an "I'm Tesoro, who the hell are you" attitude. Descartos was the absolute opposite. We picked our Thoroughbred mares based on conformation to maintain the natural balance the Andalusians seem to have. I do know Tango has a wonderful natural balance. I honestly liked the personalities of all our horses, everyone different, everyone teaching me something new.

My horses seem to have complimentary personalities and attitudes - Tango is very "aware" of all that is going on while Weltcom is relaxed and laid back. Together they keep me focused!

I have original PlayStation, PS2, PSP, and PS3. I would love to have a PS4 if I could afford it. I guess I'm just more used to the PS controller and I like how the joysticks are beside each other instead of one at the top and one at the bottom.

That's good to know! I tend to prefer mares over geldings and stallions, and between the Spanish horses I've ridden, I like their personalities. I'm just wondering how much other PRE horses many differ and reading what you wrote, I'll have to put a lot of thought into my future horse (which is in the far off distance). I've also considered looking at Lusitanos in the future.

My mare is very aware-- I wrote elsewhere that she can tell when I'm about to have a seizure and will let me know. She is very spooky, but her spooks vary. Lately she has become bored with where I am riding her so she has been "fake" spooking to try and get out of work (all four legs out and drop). It's pretty funny. She's very sweet and has the greatest ground manners. She's just incredibly sensitive in the saddle, which is what I like.

By the way, do you do eventing?

That's me and my show horse Just Reward, affectionately known as Casey. He was absolutely wonderful, always taking care of me. We showed in hunter classes, did some one day events, some dressage tests, we did hunter paces and went on 2 hunts. The land where I live isn't well suited for hunting however on the first hunt the dogs got the scent but the master couldn't get his horse over the chicken coop fence. Since the hounds were on the scent we could follow them anyway - over the coop down the lane across the stream over the fence. It was a wonderful run especially hearing the dogs baying and seeing all the red coats. Was a long time ago but I remember it like yesterday!

I did walk the cross country course at Badminton and realized just how big and "sturdy" the jumps were - um, not for me. The one day events were more my speed. And I really wanted to do jumpers. Now I'm just focused on understanding all the details of "the basics". My trainer made me realize that if you don't have them right then you will end up making mistakes in the bigger endeavors.

Funny how some people prefer mares and others geldings/stallions. For me, I know it is their temperaments when they come into season. Not that all mares show a difference. And my dear Mozart was a breeding stallion for 10 years so when mares were in season he was very aware of it!

Yes but everyday. It starts to become boring and I can sometimes become depressed because I don't speak to anyone my age for weeks. I have about 2/3 friends, most are long distance.

My friend is driving an hour to pick me up to go to a theme park on Saturday. I also feed cats for some pocket money when I'm not at work in the early morning.

Working early means I have loads of time in the afternoon to just sit and be tired and watch tv. If I get my fatigue sorted out I'm not sure I'm going to know what to do with myself because I will still have nothing to do!!

I went to the gym today and managed 20 minutes. I'm trying to diet but its extremely hard when I love food and lack exercise!!!

The hunt sounds very interesting! I had jumping lessons years ago and I really like it, but I'm scared to fall off. I've thankfully had two horses that have never refused a jump and/or I've been stable enough to stay in the saddle (ha!).

My friend used to do eventing, but then again she used to things like bronc riding so eventing was nothing to her. I was told by dressage trainer that because I have epilepsy and it is not fully controlled that I might not be able to do it, but I am not sure.

As far as mares/geldings/stallions, I think it's a combination of things and also breeds. I would rather have a hot horse I can bring down than a lazy horse that I have to work really hard to engage, if that makes sense. I can work with a lot of energy and engage that brain. I also understand anxiety, hormones, an over-thinky brain better than I understand a bad work ethic. The gelding I exercise is one of the most athletic horses I've ridden. He used to do dressage, eventing, side saddle, gaited pleasure (the horse w/t/c, gaits, you name it), worked cows, etc. He used to beat all of the WBs in dressage. He has the worst work ethic. For everything he's good at, he just doesn't care. He's very smart, though, and can be a lot of fun to ride, just when he wants, which I appreciate (I like a horse with a brain. I don't want a machine). I like having a conversation, hence why I like a mare since the mares I've encountered tend to not tolerate certain things. That being said, there are always exceptions to the rule and I would never discount that. I don't want to be closed minded. My next horse could be a super lazy gelding that I fall in love with or a super hot gelding. I don't think I could handle a stallion so I would rule that out, although a friend of mine had a stallion and he was one of the most well-behaved horses I've ever met.
The mares I ride also don't exhibit the classic "witchy" mare behavior. They don't tolerate misbehavior on the human end, but if anything one of them is sassy. My own mare is not a typical mare. She's just super hot. I encountered one very classic "witchy" mare and I think the owner spayed her.

Hobbies: fishing, LEGO, computers, PC Games, music, concerts, painting, etc.

I like fishing, but I've haven't gone much lately. :( LEGO is a fun distraction from all the BS in life. It helps me to relax and concentrate. I like building and using computers. I'm over due in building another computer. This one I'm using now is over ten years old. The only games I bother with are PC Games. But I'm very selective in my games (MAFIA, Batman Arkham Asylum, Hitman). I don't like wasting $40-60 on POS
games. :) I enjoy all kinds of music. Classical, rock, country, opera, pop, etc.. When I get a chance I like going to concerts. I prefer the older acts that the kiddies don't follow. :) I'm trying to get into watercolor painting. I believe I will have lots of fun with it when I get going.

Watercolor is fun. And easier to clean up than oil or acrylic paints. I used to draw a lot. Don't have much time for it now. My grandma worked at a craft store for years and had a bandsaw and jigsaw in the basement. She would let my cousins and me paint the scraps.

Today Is my day off from work but I am being paid to walk a dog today and tomorrow. And then I will be feeding a cat over the weekend. Then I am going to feed someone elses cats. I like being a pet sitter, it keeps me busy and gives me a purpose to get up and go. But problem is when I work I have to pay my mum to feed them in the morning because I work really early!!!

I read, write, and write computer programs. I also play the piano, but I don't have the motor skills to be any good at it, so I don't really count it.

Yep I do 3D modeling in computers and make models and sell it online in a game for real money for one of my hobbies( actually I am doing that now). My other hobby is riding and collecting art. other things include building things in the shed with tools etc.

I like listening to lots of genres of music, with the exception of rap, hip-hop, hardcore country and "death metal". I also play the piano, guitar, recorders, and trumpet, though I am out of practice on some of them. I'm involved in our local theater group and like to act. I like to work on bicycles, walk my dog, and learn all I can about crows. I like to read, too. I'm currently reading a book by Jim Harrison called "Brown Dog". I recommend it, although some people might find the descriptions of sexual activities offensive. I don't consider it pornographic at all, though. It's a library book and libraries are usually careful about what they put on the shelves. My wife and I also like to watch a few hours a week of BBC shows and eat popcorn. Of course, I like to spend time with all you folks here, too! :)
