That you have had a seizure? I never know unless I someone tells me I have been acting strange, or I end up in the er, or I hurt myself and dont remember. Yesterday was a complete wash. I woke up like I was hungover, I was a hr late for work, I kept screwing things up at work, and had to leave a hr early. It was like someone had scrambled my brain. I went home and slept 16 hrs and today is MUCH better! My co-worker told me I just wasnt normal yesterday, and asked if I could of had seizures during my sleep. I guess I could of, but can seizure still happen even when taking medicine?

Unfortunately Lisa, yes, you can keep having seizures even when taking your medicine. Make sure your doc knows about what happened yesterday, and that your concerned that you may have had a seizure in your sleep. Your dosage may need adjustment, or your doc might need to find a different med for you.

Yes Lisa, and sometimes they can increase seizure activity. Not something that is widely advertised, but when keeping a journal and when you can track it as such, there can't be much of any other reason for it. Doctors do need to know this, and they will most likely try you on a new med.

Or you can look at the suggestions about how to be proactive about your seizure control here, and perhaps find alternative ways to control them.

Lisa,

As Robin & Skillefer have been said, seizures can happen while on medication, even nocturnal seizures. I've tried 11 medications, had brain surgery, 2 VNS surgeries and still have occasional seizures, day & night.
Please call you neuro and tell him/her about what happened. Have you had your blood levels checked recently?

Cindy

Lisa..

Lisa,

I often feel like that too. In the past, My seziures were really bad nocturnal ones and I can absolutely tell when I have them. But I also get all weirded out in my sleep and feel funny and wake up feeling weird/bad as well. Then I think..did I have a seizure and not know it??? It can be hard to differentiate what is happening. It sounds like yours may have been a seizure. And then a post ictal phase..Hope you are feeling better.

Michelle

I had a seizure last month and my neuro raised my trileptal. You would think that a higher dosage would keep the seizures at bay. But when I say how good I felt today compared to yesterday. WOW Yesterday was the worst.
