I know it probably sounds like a stupid question, but last night I had some seizures and since then, Ive been feeling exausted. My head hurts, my back aches, I feel weak, worn out, my eyes feel like theres rocks on them. ive been trying to get up out of bed and walk around, hoping to feel better, but it seems like I only last 5 minutes and then want to go lay back down.

I remember when the seizures started... My arms stiffened and jerked.. so I cant tell if I somehow arched my back and thats what is causing the pain in my back and arm areas. When I lay down to try to relax my eyes, I close my eyes and I get the feeling that Im falling. Like someone is pulling a board from under me and Im falling. It bothers me so much. All i want to do is rest and I just cant. Im praying this is normal to feel this way.

I did call the oncall line today, they said to call back to the office on monday. Of course my dr wasnt the one that was oncall anywhere today.

My mom wants me to take an ativan tonight, and Im afraid it will make me too out of it with the kids being home with me tomorrow. They always get up early and Im afraid I wont feel up to getting up with them if I take one.

Has anyone felt like this after a seizure or seizures? If so, how long did it take for you to feel better?

Feel pretty zapped for energy. Always dragging after seizures. And if the seizure clustes, going to sleep or relaxing is a challenge. As for the ativan, id take it if it keeps you from being really restless. It is way better then tossing and turning and setting yourself up for another seizures.

I feel pretty tired, to be honest. With smaller seizures I might get a headache and just feel a bit tired, but when I had the grand mal, I was pretty wiped out. I didn't have a migraine or anything. A head ache a bit later in the evening, but that's it.

I feel tired, sore and headachey. When I had my TCs I'd have bad back and joint pain too. It'd last a few days for me, all I could do was rest and wait. It should eventually go away, but try try to relax and not stress about it. I know it's easier said than done but, your anxiety might trigger another seizure.
Sorry, that the generic hasn't worked for you... I hope you get everything sorted at least you gave it a go.

Thanks everyone. I got alot of sleep through out yesterday and last night. I took another ativan at night, which I think helped. Woke up to still a bad headache, took some tension headache at 6am and its getting better. My back still hurts, but I think that will get better as time goes on.

Feels I was in a boxing ring with a pro for a couple of rounds and I lost. But like a fighter you get back up and meet the next challange life brings you. Normally my neck hurts like a dull pain that won't go away like my head has banged itself against the headboard in piledriver manner, legs are a little weak and seem to be a step behind the rest of my body.

I feel like crap, yes sore head, sore back it really depends on the severity off the seizure.Ive noticed since ive got older my seizures are not as violent as they were in my younger days. But i brush myself down. Its a condition im gonna have to live with for the rest of my life and believe me ive long got my head round that.

Well, I went to bed last night with a very sort back area on my left side. I think I might have stiffened my left side more than I did my right. I had to get the heating pad out to help it for alittle bit before going to sleep. Plus over the weekend, I took alot of pain meds, to help with the headache, and soreness... drank alot of fluids, but didnt have much of an appetite, which i think caused my mild case of gerd to come back again. So im going to have to give that time to get better too. But I agree, its time that I need to help take care of this. I just get to those moments where I wish this never happened. Last night I kept telling myself, "Never again will I try a new medication when my seizure control is going great".... my mom tells me i had to try it to see what the outcome would be. I agree. I just hate the fact that the outcome has to be the bad one! lol

i fell after fit last week bruised right breast straight into corner of a wall very place i had surgery.i been in vienna and all rather stressfull with flights etc.was very bad saturday night head banged,i knew i had get home so got train and some little oik threw brick through train drivers cab window so what should been two hour train ride was five hours..all caught up lastnight e not good....

I have absence seizures, but I always feel a bit tired in general. It could be attributed to my medication (onfi). I don't know if anyone else takes that, but it makes you tired all the time. I'm sorry that some of you have to deal with grand mals. I've only had one or two and they always wipe me out.

Ice works much better on the sore spot for the first day or two then heat. But I know the heat feels better.

Thanks for the info! :) I will have to try some ice tonight. My back upper left side still feels sore.

After my (I think) simple partial seizures, I have to rest for about ten minutes. I'm still not fully aware before then, so it takes me a little bit to get back up to full speed again.

Weird after-seizure experience

I know this is an older thread, but I thought I would contribute, since my experience is a bit different.

I have not had a tonic clonic seizure since I was a child, but I do have really bizarre experiences after seizures.

I have complex partial seizures that originate mostly in the left frontal lobe, but I also have some activity in my speech centers, so I can lose the ability to speak for some time after a seizure, or I may speak in gibberish (an hour-plus). Also, (and we do not know why this happens) I completely lose all sense of direction and may wander around aimlessly (which was fun when I was living abroad, but even more fun trying to explain to my new neighbors, in gibberish, how I can't remember how to get back to my own house after a short walk with my dog).

I get both pre- and postictal dysphoria sometimes, as well, which is a dark foreboding/sense of dread. If I fall asleep sometimes right after a really bad seizure, I will have nightmares that I see Jesus' face in a blood red moon, and Death chasing me. Really uplifting stuff. I am not even religious, but it is all a neurological side-effect of this type of epilepsy. My vision also clouds, and it gets either grayish/silvery or looks like I am staring through milky water for a few hours/days afterward. The only thing I can do is take a couple of migraine pills (sometimes it helps), cry (sometimes it helps, too) and sleep it off.

I am always, without exception, insanely on-edge right after a seizure. I do not want, under any circumstances, to fall asleep. That can sometimes trigger a seizure. When I was younger, I had really bad PTSD and insomnia as well. All three combined for an endless cycle of seizures and panic attacks. It has gotten much better now. If I start to get too edgy after a really bad seizure, then I take a panic pill, turn the lights off and listen to some music.

I never drink, because the one time I tried to have a couple of shots of vodka to calm down after a seizure, it combined with my medicine somehow to make the postictal dysphoria so terrible, I thought I would go crazy. Very, very bad idea. Never again.

Other than the things I have mentioned above, I think most of the aftereffects are cognitive with me. I just feel mentally "checked-out." I had a high school teacher that suspected that I was high a few times when I was just coming out of a seizure, and I have read online that frontal lobe epilepsy especially can mimic the symptoms of psychiatric illness and drug abuse. It's not like I am slower - it is like I have completely left the building. (Even, to a certain extent, the day after.)

Does anybody else experience this?

Absolutely horrendous.
It's almost impossible for me to move afterwards.
But every time expect one I believe there are people there or well my parents....
