I have a young son (age 2.5) who stopped sweating after he started taking Topamax more than a year ago. He gets really red and overheated in the weather that we are currently having...which is actually very pleasant weather... and the problem increases and gets worse in the summer.
Due to this issue, my son will stop taking Topamax and start taking Lamictal instead.
It is a long process, though, and it will be a couple of months before we can even start reducing Topamax.
Once he is finally weaned off Topamax, however, I am wondering how long it usually takes for one to start sweating again normally. I have read some stories on-line about people who took a year or more to start sweating again...and this is something I did not expect at all. If this is typical, it means that this summer will undoubtedly be very uncomfortable for my son.
Does anyone here have experience with this? Did you stop sweating due to Topamax and then start sweating again after you stopped taking the medication? If so, how long did it take you to sweat again?
