My husband the diabetic and I had a talk tonight about how often we see our doctors. His mom suggested he doesn't need to see his as often as he does. It got me curious how often people here see their doctors. I think I see mine once a year, maybe every eight months. Of course things would be different if something special was happening, like a surgery.

I usually only see my GP once or twice a year to either get a new script or to get a referral for my neurologist at the epilepsy clinic. The only other time I see the GP is if he requests that i come in or Im really sick.

Last year I went to my GP to get a updated referral fro my neurologist & the GP checked my blood pressure & did routine blood/urine tests. I ended up seeing him 4 times between March - June because the urine tests kept showing small traces of blood so after 3 urine tests he referred me to a urologist. That was the most I'd seen a GP in one year for a long time lol.

My seizures are pretty much under control at the moment so I only have to see my neurologist once a year for a follow up.

It depends with my dOC on how my sz's are doing. If there doing good every 3 months.
When he starts me on a new med like Onfi he wanted see me every month for a couple of months. My seizures aren't controlled so when mine start getting real bad I tell him he'll have me come in as soon as possible.

On a regular basis, which nothing is usually regular. lol

GP - 3months

psych -3mths

neuro - 3mths

In my case, I am the one with Diabetes and Epilepsy, so it depends on how well I am doing, seizure-wise. It used to be, I would see my epileptologist every 3 months and my endocrinologist every 3-4 months, too. But now both are a bit more stabilized so I see my epileptologist every 6 months and my endo every 4-6 months.

If I am controlled like I am now, I see my doctor once a year and usually the apointment is very quick.

we're talking about in general, e and everything else?
every 2 months for me- covers all the bases of meds, bloodwork, paperwork, and of course the annual girly exams ;) sometimes i'll make an appt just to update her on how i'm doing. wednesday is a good example, while she was doing a quick breast exam i told her how i've been feeling, that i finally got my e support group going, and that my 6 months sz-free is this tuesday. i put my shirt back on, we went over screens of recent bloodwork before i go to my first follow-up, then i hugged and left. just love her.

Neuro - Every 3 months
GP - about once a year unless something else comes up
Gyno - once a year
Dentist - once a year for cleaning and if something else comes up
Dermatologist - when something comes up (I have skin problems)
Eye dr - every 2 years
Back dr - when I was having problems about once a month. Got that fixed and he said no need to come back unless something happened

Dentist - once a year for cleaning and if something else comes up
Eye dr - every 2 years

I forgot about the dentist & optomoterist.

Dentist - I go as little as possible lol, I went to see a dentist in August 2012 after not going to one for 22 years lol. I was supposed to go back last year for a 12 month checkup but never went back because I couldn't afford it at the time & now I just dont have the time.

Optomoterist - I go every 2 years for a eye test unless there is something wrong then I'll go earlier.

My dr likes to see me every 6-8 months.

Edited to add-

Gyno- once a yr for my annual check up.

Dentist- insurance covers a cleaning every 6 months but I prob only go once a year, lol,

These days I've been speaking to my neuro weekly because we're needing to adjust and change meds that often. Usually, my medical insurance pays for six neuro consults a year but if I'm doing okay, I only use about three. Thankfully, my neuro is happy to talk on the phone when things get hectic and he doesn't need an EEG. I have to do three blood levels a year if I'm on the same med all year, which he just faxes to the lab. I also have to do U and Es every few months for the anticonvulsants.

I see my psychiatrist once a month. And she always pushes me to do all the mammograms and so forth every year.

I hardly ever get sick other than the epilepsy so I don't see my GP very often. Maybe twice a year I suppose.

Dentist every six months like clockwork. I'm unhealthily obsessed with dental hygiene.

Dentist: Every 6 months (I went 15 years without seeing a dentist, but once I started taking E-meds it made sense to go more often. Even though it's not covered by my insurance.)
Neurologist: Once a year
Regular doc: Every 2 or 3 years.

Sheesh, Nakamova--GP every few years? What's the secret?

I never get sick! I think the secret is I work at home and don't have kids, so I have minimal exposure to the germiverse...
