I'd say go for it. Even just for a little while until you find a full time place of work you can handle. this way you can start saving again so that if anything happens, you have enough money set aside to live off of.

Yeah that's a good point... Well, maybe i'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they have to say about it. It's too late in the evening now.

Feels like i've spent half of today on the phone and the other half lugging boxes around and cleaning lol :P It'll be worth it!

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

I thought the same thing was going to offer a can of fix-a-flat i won't being needing it for a while :dontknow:

Congrats on the new place!!!!!!

I'm so excited for you!!! Have fun fixing up your new flat. Getting your own place always brings out the "nesting instinct":)

Yup, i'm nesting alright.

Unfortunately, so are a load of fleas ¬.¬

I'm not fully moved in yet, moved most of my stuff round and i have a guy coming with a van on thurs morning to help me move my larger furniture. My mum and dad got back from their holiday in Spain yesterday so i took her round to see the place, and i got jumped by fleas. They must have been dormant in the place and then obviously as i've been walking around over the last week they've all woken up.

I could have cried. Been nagging the landlord since i found out yesterday. I've just got my nice new sofas delivered too, i hope they're not going to be full of them. Either the landlord sorts the problem out sharpish or i'm gonna have to learn to fly so i can avoid getting my legs bitten.

On the bright side a friend called me the other day and said "Hey, we just got some new bedroom drawers, was wondering if you could make use of our old ones" I said sure, why not, and she dropped them round. Two matching chests of drawers, in perfect condition! And they didn't cost me a penny :woot:

Oh yeah and today i filled in and handed in the forms which may give me help to pay my council tax and rent :)

Will take about 4 weeks to hear from them as to whether or not i get it.

Great to hear that the furnishings are coming together nicely! Sorry to hear about the fleas though. I once lived in a place that got flea-infested, and we had to flea-bomb the place and stay away for at least 12 hours afterwards.

Fingers-crossed for the rent-help.

I'm just wondering if a flea bomb would work... and i have no idea how expensive they are. I might call the pet shop and see if they sell that sort of thing. I'd need one for each room and one for the hallways i think. So that would be six i think.

Did the flea bombs work for you? We had a flea infestation when we moved into this house too (parents house) and they had to get out pest control to sort it.

It shocks me that the people living there before me must have had that problem and did nothing about it. Eurgh...

Woohoo i just called the landlord again and he said he's chasing up people to come and have a look at the place, they will hopefully get someone out either today or tomorrow to have a look. Problem is that i'm at work today and tomorrow, so with any luck it'll be the morning, cos i'll need to be there to let them in.

Yeah the fleabomb worked, even though our place was VERY infested. I think we just used two, rather than one for every room, but instructions may vary depending on what you use.

Well if i don't hear anything from the landlord by tomorrow i'll call in to the pet shop and see what they have. I just called them and they said they have quite a lot of products in stock. Since the problem was not my fault and before i moved in it's really down to the landlord to sort, but i'd rather get rid of the problem before i move my stuff in on thursday.

Met the lady who lives downstairs the other day. She's a lovely old lady, said to me "Now, dear, if you ever get lonely living up there on your own, i'm always down here if you want to pop in for a cup of tea sometime!"

Bless her :)

Aside from the fleas, it sounds as if everything is falling into place nicely.

What a nice neighbor you have! You are very lucky! Wonderful neighbors make life so much better.

Yes, if you get rid of the fleas now it's easier. If you wait until after you move in you may have to bug-bomb your whole house, which is rather nasty. The chemicals stay on your sofa and other furniture, and if you cover the furniture with sheets it defeats the purpose of the bomb.

That's pity about the fleas, hope the landlord has it sorted out for you real soon.
Good luck with getting help for the council tax/ rent.

Your neighbour sounds just like one of my neighbours who is in her 80s. I've been in my unit for almost 12 years & this particular neighbour has been here for 12 1/2. When my Mum & I 1st looked at the place I'm in we had to wait for the estate agent to come with the keys so could only look through the windows. My neighbour who lived next door at the time saw my Mum & I so let us have a look around her unit so we could get an idea of what the units looked like. I said to her later that for all she knew we could've been axe murderers or robbers & she said 'Oh I don't think so dear' :roflmao:.

My neighbour is now in another unit but still on the same block so I still see her regularly & she is always there if I need anything & I help her with any technical problems she has (eg - tuning in tv, showing her how to use dvd player lol). We've come close over the years that she's become like a nanna to me lol.

Well, the guy from pest control came today to do the first spraying, will be back again next week to do the second. So glad I'm not paying for it lol. My mum and dad will have to look after Bob the budgie for a while as the chemicals could be harmful to her.

Tonight will be my last night in my mum and dads house. Tomorrow I will be sleeping in my new flat for the first time!

Be careful not to inhale those pesticide fumes...

Yeah, I ended up sneezing the whole of yesterday!

Well, today is moving day. I'm up ridiculously early cos the moving guy here will be here at 9am and I still have stuff to pack. Been working long shifts this last couple of days so haven't had time to do the last bits. Later I will be calling various places to inform them that I've moved (hospital, docs, disability people etc). Already sorted out all my bills and when they're due to be paid. I'm guessing that's a novelty that will wear off pretty quickly lol

You sound very on top of things Lou. I hope you can catch up on your sleep at some point.

Well, all my stuff is moved in now. It's been seriously hard work today and I'm exhausted. Friend took me food shopping and then I made us hot dogs for dinner. Tired but can't find my blankets or pillows so just gonna sleep under a light cover and use one of the sofa cushions as a pillow. It'll do for tonight lol. No sign of my teeny flatmates since the guy came to spray the other day, so that's good!

Hooray! You are all moved in! Aren't unpacking the boxes both the worst and the best thing? Very tiring, but exciting to get everything put away in just the right place. I always say that the house will never again be as clean and organized as it is when I first move in! lol...

Sleep well.

:)
