I'm not sure really think we all get diff ones, mine are a wave of nausea bright red face, sometimes extreme hotness, will have too sit down just can't stand too keep standing :hugs:

Mine is fear and a rising feeling starting in my right foot and starts up my leg to my head which turns to the right. Mine just come on usually no warning.

Mine just come on too I'll have a tonic clonic within half hour

My auras come on unexspectedly. I'll get a 2 second warning if that then bang I get the seizure. My aura's are flashing lights that aren't reall there. I always think please if your giving j a warning make it 5 minutes before the seizure do I can prepare.

I have similar auras. Tingling, phantom smells, dizziness, and a pins and needles feeling from the base of my skull that shoots to the front of my head. They happen randomly too. Sometimes I'll have auras, and nothing will happen. Other times I'll have them, and two minutes later, I'll have a TC.

I agree that it is VERY annoying.

At skyfire322 I'm always having and then I feel like I'm bout to have a seizure but it doesn't come. My husband lets me know wen they happen in my sleep.

It sounds like something else! maybe something in the ear I get dizzy and ringing in my right ear too

Mine starts with butterflies in my tummy, the tingling then travels up to my head and i stop being able to understand people and communicate, in a strange way it feels quite nice, like im just drifting off into a dream or am really really drunk! sounds weird i know because i know there's a seizure to come but i always just want to laugh :L guess im just lucky

My auras usually started with a strange dream in my head (it was always the same type of dream but the only time I remembered what the dream was about was when I had an aura/seizure), my head would feel funny (kind of heavy or tingly) & I would want to go to the toilet. When I had an aura if there was a toilet near by I would usually walk to the toilet as soon as the funny dream cam into my head.

I had bad sleep seizures this past Fri-Sat and on Saturday I was having these type of "feel-good" aura/mini-seizure things come up on Saturday too.
It is very confusing because it IS pleasurable in a way for me too, but it's also nauseating and is a red flag. I'm lucky I was with my mom in her car and not on the bus. Yuck

My auras are odd, but from some searching they sound pretty generic. My neuro said, "Oh that's classic temporal lobe epilepsy symptoms." Joy.

Starts off with my right ear going deaf followed by a ringing. Then a feeling of closing in and my neck muscles tense. I then see images of dreams/familiar scenes. These resonate as nightmares and that huge sense of fear comes over me. During these if I do not loose consciousness, it just comes and goes. If I lose it though, it's kinda like my brain caves in on itself...kina like a black hole out in space. Does that mean someone is trying to open a Stargate through my brain?

Post-itcal I'm pretty useless for about 4-6 hours. It's been reported my eyes are not lined up, one going one way the other just stationary. Just need sleep.

lol at Brain Stargate. Braingate?
how I want to summarize it at the moment (when I'm not experiencing it, so +/- accuracy) is a fluttery type of thing in my head, strange recollections during a dream/reality type of thing, recollections that flip through rapidly.
I guess that because the brain is a big chemical reaction, the seizure is a chemical reaction that goes rapidly through the brain - (an "anti-brain" of sorts?) - so it's like flipping through a flip-book of otherwise unrelated information?
because it also is the way we feel (the brain) these bizarre sensations 'flip-book' also.

I've heard/read that auras are actually partial seizures. Is this true? If they are partial seizures, how can they last so long when supposedly a seizure only lasts up to 5 min?

An aura is also known as a simple partial seizure. Sometimes you can have an aura (or simple partial) by itself or it can be followed by a complex partial or Tonic Clonic.

When I've had auras they were mostly followed by a complex partial.

I can have auras last an hour or two or even longer, and sometimes only a few minutes. The sensation always culminates in a seizure. The ones that last a long time or only a few minutes are the exact same sensation, with the ones being shorter just a bit more intense. Yet seizures (including partial?) are "supposed to" last no more than 5 min. So when I say I have what I thought was an aura, and therefore a partial seizure, last hours, is this not truly an aura? If not an aura, what is it?

The unusual sensations are simple partial seizures. They are called auras when they lead into a larger seizure (complex partial or tonic-clonic). Either way, they are still simple partial seizures. Though the medical references say that simple partials last only a few minutes, I think that is incorrect -- it certainly doesn't match up with the experience of many people here on CWE. I think you can have simple partial seizures that last for many hours. It's well-known that a related phenomenon, migraine aura, can also last much longer. (There's one case where someone had a visual migraine aura that lasted an entire year!).
