This week I just discovered something that has helped me a lot. Maybe it will help someone else too.
I sometimes have simple partial seizures while I am on the bus. In addition, after I get home from work (after riding the bus) I often feel a bit out of it or extremely tired.
I would sometimes think I am just worn out from work, but it would still happen when I had an easy day at work.
On Monday I was looking out the window of the bus watching the pattern of light. The sun would shine on me, then be briefly covered by trees, then shine, then shadows, then shine. I felt my conscious start to drift a bit, so I turned my head to face straight forward.
I am photosensitive to flashing and flickering lights. I realized the pattern of flicking sunlight and shadows on the bus was a trigger for me.
So for the rest of the week I have been focusing on something right in front of me while I am on the bus. I read a book or do crochet. I try to just look out the window when the bus stops and when it gets very close to my stop. So far I have been okay when I am on the bus and right after I get home.
