I see that you live in Colchester, I live in Norwich just up the road in the carrot crunching county, concerts are brilliant, keep it up, I am off to see Meatloaf (sad I know) in a couple of weeks time, your glasses sound like a very good idea, I don't own a pair so I will probably pay for it the next day!!!

Weirdly enough I recently bought a new mountain bike, I haven't used it much yet due to being out of the country first with work and then on holiday, I have used it to ride home from my parents house instead of nagging them for a ride and it made me feel really independent, the only problem was it was dark and the car headlights bothered me, which worried me a bit, but I did it anyway. I find that if I really concentrate on something that seizures never happen, I have to pay particular attention when doing something like horse riding, even crossing a busy road can be hazardous (I walk to work and I have to cross 2).

The other year when my friends were doing a parachute jump, they done a tandem and this still ruled me out. There is probably a way around it somewhere, I just never bothered looking at it any further, coz if I didn't do it with them the moment had passed.

The worst thing about being epileptic for me is that it sucks not to be allowed a motorcycle, but I have just started my new medication (ethosuximide) last weekend, so you never know!!!

more about these glasses! i have left numerous concerts and plays for lighting reasons and i'm curious about whteher or not/how i can buy some?

i got them through my normal opticians,they're fairly new. they have reactor lenses where the particles go horizontal in one lens and vertical in another, they are photochromic??Ask a reasonably good optician,they shouldn't charge just for advice. I also have 'bendy' titanium frames, so that if i have a seizure,they just magically go back into shape and dont snap! I've been told that these glasses work for some people with epilepsy but not all. Others to try are the blue lenses....NOT the coated ones,the glass itself has to be blue. A good optician should be able to advise you.Hope this helps.....believe it or not, I go to specsavers, I've found that they are the best and most knowledgable in England about these things!
 
I recently had an eyetest at specsavers, they did insist on flashing lights in my eyes, I wasn't to keen on that, not the smartest thing to happen as lights are a definite trigger for me. The glasses sound like a good idea, but for me I am not sure that there is much point as I am uncontrolled anyway. A few extra seizures after a concert isn't going to make much difference to me

the optician didn't do the flashy light one,she said it was too risky...your optician sounds like a prat!same company,different store...gosh!
