Hi All,

I'm new to this site - however not at all new to forums since I am a member of few - all to do with epilepsy. If any one of you is am member of other forums my name Miss Chocy might be familiar to you.

I have tc's - have had epilepsy for over 19 years. For the first 17 years I didn't have any warning before before the tc. However, in the last few years I've been getting buzzing in my ears before hand. However, it doesn't give me any time to make myself safe - as it only gives me abut a few seconds then I have the tc.

Luckily for me my e is well controlled however not as controlled as it once was, My last seizure - as of today (03 Feb 2010) was in early December 2009. I am currently taking tegretol retard (don't know what its called in the USA/Canada or other parts of the world - sorry!). I take 800mgs/day of it - 400mgs @ 7:15am and the 400mgs @ 6:15pm. I have been on two other AEDs - epanutin (which is known as dilantin in many other parts of the world including North America) and Lamotrigine. For many years - I was on epanutin - until the last few years - which I had to come off it as it started to give me dizzy spells - which worsened until I was have multiple sesver dizzy spells every day. I then tried lamictal but it didn't do anything for my epilepsy so, came off that and went back onto the epanutin. After a few weeks of being on full on my old dose of epanutin started to come the epanutin - which I'm full off now - thank goodness - and have been for a while now - maybe 1 or 2 yrs - think more of a year - and now only taking tegretol retard, which controls my e and although I get se's from it I find that they are manageable and only minor.

I'm 38 years old but very young for my age - and am very proud of it too. I very happy I have found this site and so far, have enjoyed using it alot. Hoping I continue to enjoy using it - think I will.

I used to live in Canada - west coast - BC for 23years - and was diagnosed with having e there. Was born in the UK and went back there in March 1997! And might go back there one day -as I do feel more Canadian then I do British. No offence to any of the British people who use this forum!

Hi Susan, welcome!

CWE has a lot of different depending on your mood -- not only places to post questions and information, but also forums to vent in or be silly in, plus specific groups related to diet and other concerns.

There seems to be a growing number of people who are having some success with using the GARD diet or Gluten-free one. You might consider taking a look at some of the info about that to see if it helps further control your seizures.

Best,
Nakamova

Greetings from B.C.

Good to have you here, anyone who likes chocolate has at least one redeeming quality in my books. I"m in Victoria but moving back to Ottawa after 25 years in the province.

The people here are great.... it's always great to get more.

Hi Susan - Welcome to CWE
It appears that your seizures began as a teen. My daughter started having them at the age of 14. We tried meds, but as with you the side effects were not acceptable. So I have gone rogue and we are controlling and healing the body by making nutritional changes.
It has made such a difference in the quality of her life. I do believe that given time to heal interior organs, that she will one day be seizure free.

I hope that you make yourself at home, and enjoy your stay.

Hello Susan (Miss Choccy),
I also wanted to welcome you to the group!! I hope you continue to find the site helpful and enjoyable. We all have different issues at various times, but it's great to have a wonderful group of people who have something in common.
:)

*sigh* I miss BC. Except the spiders.

Welcome to the forum Miss Choccy!

Hi Alll,

Thank you all for your kind replies. Am looking forward to reading, posting and using other sections of this forum. Have used the Back Fence a few times. And the section that contains some of the games - ie word games!
