I've been on 500 mg (2 times a day) of Keppra for about a year now. It controls my seizures well and controls my emotions very well. I used to overreact to just about everything. I like the fact that I'm not high strung anymore, but sometimes I find myself indifferent to everything. For example, this past week, I felt energetic and easily able to concentrate on work, etc. Since I woke up this morning, I've been pretty sleepy and not caring one way or the other about things.

I'm not sad or mad, just kind of "I don't really care" attitude.

Maybe it's just my natural mood today, but I seem to get these "feeling normal" for several days then indifferent and sleepy episodes.

Has anyone experienced anything like this while taking Keppra?

I think dulling of moods and emotions can happen with any seizure medication, especially because many of the medications also work for depression and/or bipolar disorders. I've read here that some people are more prone to anger with some of the medications, so in this regard the medication might be considered an emotion enhancer.

It's possible that this is a side effect of your medication, but don't rule out the possibility of other conditions such as bipolar or depression.

Thanks masterjen and resaebiunne. I will keep track of how often it happens and if I find it is very often, talk to my doctor about it. Thanks again for your input.
