Hi, everybody, my sleeping problem isn't getting better with age (started at about 14-15). Since I also have Hachimoto, my doc gave me recently beta blocker. I was surprised as I felt much calmer. Started to read and saw that u can also use some antidepressants in small dose just to become more relaxed and calm. My family doc said it could be a bit dangerous because of epilepsy, an an appointment with neuro is somewhere in October. Please, guys, somebody knows anything interesting about insomnia (that i don't)?Just a joke!
Love to everybody

This thread is almost 20 years old now, but you might find something useful in it:

A new trick i recently heard is interesting.
With your eyes closed. Try looking left and right slowly.
I’ve found it similar to focusing on your breath. (Meditation)
I actually do both simultaneously. The general idea is to focus on anything than whatever’s keeping you awake.
Side note from the same article that stuck with me: Your eyes are an exposed part of the brain. 😮

I have tried meditating. For me keeping my closed was an effort. And my ears ring when my blood pressure is high. And carbamazipine drives up your blood pressure. So basically sound in the house was to much. Some people can appreciate the lack of light or noise pollution.

I have a little noise maker that I use. You can pick several different sounds on it and I've got mine set to what is sort of like waves. It can be set to any volume and I don't have mine very high, just high enough to block out other noises.

I saw this on a TV show once and this is how the character said that he fell asleep. He closed his eyes and counts to 100 over and over again. I thought it would never work but one night I was having trouble falling asleep so I thought I'd try it. Surprisingly it did work and I fall asleep fairly quickly, not even making it to 100. This is what I do to fall asleep almost every night now.

Thats the part of my brain that's messed up. I used to give myself seizures doing math and stuff at night trying to solve problems. Yes I am a nerd but sometimes I would have breakthroughs in bed or the problem would keep me awake
