Is anyone on disability/supplemental income?

I can't help but feel filing for some help is getting necessary, but the thought makes me depressed and feel like a leech of some sort.
Maybe it's from being in Texas among so much conservative ideology - har har har. Especially with this budget s*** going on in D.C. now...

Well, I'll chime in. I regret not applying for SSD at the time I should have. My thought was that I would take some time off work to sort things out, and find other alternatives of income that did not exacerbate seizure activity. After being off work for a couple of years, I started a new business venture that would allow me to have some flexibility, and I could create an atmosphere that I was more comfortable in. I don't function well around bright lights for extended periods of time, or loud noise, especially sudden loud noises. I also can't have a lot of peripheral activity/movement.

I had not tried to apply for SSD when I first discovered that I did not qualify. I received my annual notice from SS. It stated that I earned enough credits, just not in the 'right' time period. =/

My advise? Don't wait! The longer you do, the greater the chance of you not qualifying. SSI supplements little. I won't even waste my time.

Luckily I was working at a job when I was diagnosed that had disability income, plus I'm on social security. If it wasn't for the two I wouldn't beable to make it. I wouldn't have enough money to pay all the bills.
