My father recently had his dilantin go toxic he finally got it down and it seems to be staying right but now his joints are killing him he went to the nuerologist today and they say he has no reflexes and his joints are swollen and his muscles are tight anyone else have any of these symptoms

Joint pain and peripheral neuropathy (loss of sensation in fingers and toes) are some of the long-term side effects of Dilantin. it can also cause bone loss/softening because it interferes with the metabolism of Vitamin D. So you father's joint pain could be related to the med.

Did the neurologist make any recommendations as for how to treat his pain? Sounds like he should be given some sort of anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling, and maybe see a physical therapist to work on building muscle tone and ease of movement.
