keppra and piracetam

The active ingridient of keppra is levetiracetam which belongs to the family of racetams just like a supplement called piracetam which is affective vs myoclonus.

my question is,if i take keppra should i still consider this as an add on??

its one of the alternative therapies sujjested in the forum

I never thought of keppra to be an alternative therapy.

It's definitely part of the mainstream medical treatments where I come from.

As with any supplement proceed with caution. Check with your doctor before taking the piracetam. If you get the greenlight from him, start at the lowest possible dose, and keep a watch for a side effects good or bad.

My neurologist had me participate in a clinical trial for Brivaracetam (an analog of levetiracetam/keppra) a few years ago while taking both keppra and topamax. The brivaracetam had a very short half life in comparison to keppra. It became obvious to all those around me if I missed even one dose of this new medication.
I would inform my neurologist of my plans to start piracetam and ask for feedback since it is closely related to a currently used aed. You constantly see that one of the leading causes of seizures is noncompliance with medication. It may be necessary to keep your blood levels constant.

I do take keppra as mainstream therapy
