Started keppra last night. wow i feel like crap. even though i was extreamly tired i didn't sleep well had major allergy issues. sneezing, coughing , itchy throat, eyes burning. you name it. took morning dose and still feel like a zombie alergy issues are slightly better. muscles hurt. yuck. Had my mri yesterday wont know anything tell the 18th

You need to give your body time to adjust to the medication. One or two days is not going to do it! It can take a few weeks and often even longer to adapt to side effects and to see if the medication will be helpful for your seizures. Common side effects from most AEDs are fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, dizziness, . . . the list goes on. Some people have no side effects at all, and most others find the side effects resolve over time.
As for allergies, it is that time of year. Have you had allergies in the Spring before? The fact that they are improving, and yet you're still taking the Keppra, is a good sign that you are experiencing seasonal allergies and not a reaction to Keppra. But of course use common sense: keep track of your allergy symptoms and if you see signs of rash, hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing get in touch with your Dr. or ER.

It'll get easier. Keep a journal on the effects, so you can keep track of what may be problematic.

i was just whining a bit this morning. yes i know it takes time to get used to the meds and yes i have allergy issues all the time. I'm allergic to hay and have horses , i know smart right.

i feel way worse in the morning like i haven't slept at all.i know this will pass right?

I take 3000 mgs of Keppra a day and have taken that same dose for over 10 years. I, too, suffer from allergies, and it seems that keppra does add to the itchy, watery eyes and extremely tired feelings. So for the allergy symptoms I take some OTC med like Allegra or Claritin. The tiredness doesn't go away, something we just have to get used to and endure.

i thought it wa making it a bit worse but since i have allergy symptoms all the time i wasn't sure. the tiredness doesn't go away?i am having trouble functioning at all. I dont want to do anything.

i am having trouble functioning at all. I dont want to do anything.

Give the Keppra another week, and if you still have trouble functioning, call your dr. Make sure you're not sliding into depression, which could be another side effect of Keppra for some.

I get lazy and don't want to do anything. It goes along with the drowsiness. The one way I have found to battle that is to get your ass up and do something. I get up and start to work on one of the cars, or the yard, or whatever I can. Once I am doing something, it is hard to get lazy.

gosh docs sure are dumb sometimes. so i had severe side effects from the keppra stomach pain , extreamly tired, grey stools. so I left a message with the nurse and she calls me today saying that cant be from keppra. so i tell her i'm looking right at the side effects of keppra and it says so right on the paper. no answer for that. i stopped the keppra and am feeling better now. waiting to see the neuro on the 18th

Hmm. Gray poo from Keppra? That's odd.

"nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, itching, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)"

I'll be damned. There it is. You're right.

On to other options, I guess..
