Hello All-

My wife has been withdrawing from Kepra for about 2months now. I have noticed a difference in her mood towards me. I am just wondering if it is me that is causing the the anger or is it part of the with drawl symptoms of the medication. She has become very angry towards me..any help on this would be greatly appreciated

Yes -- it's the withdrawals. Our neurologist had us wean our son off of Keppra in January because he was getting too aggressive, but during the weaning period, he actually got WORSE. Very moody.

Checked around and found a lot of folks experience this during Keppra wean.

Hang in there!! Once she gets off, she should return to normal. In the meantime, she may find it helpful to take a magnesium supplement to help with mood (may also help with seizures and sleep, if that's an issue).

I think it is the Keppra. When the keppra was stopped I wasn't weened properly and I was pretty hostile. I think anger, hostility and rebound anxiety/depression can hit upon cutting down on a drug that was taken for an extended period of time.

How much has she been cutting down each month? Is she being moved up to another anti seizure med during the keppra withdraw?
