Has anyone who is has been on Lamictal also been diagnosed with meningitis or aseptic meningitis? I found an article where the FDA had issued a warning stating it can cause this, so I was wondering if anyone has had this happen?

I got my seizures as a result from meningitis but not from taking Lamictal. I didn't hear about Lamictal until having seizures for about 5 years.

From what others have told me its a rare side effect cause I got a email about it a few months back.if ur new to lamictal then caution vut if u have been on it awhile that side effect more than likely wont happen always good to check with your neuro mine told me no big deal

From the FDA website:

"Since the drug’s approval in December 1994 through November 2009, there were 40 cases of aseptic meningitis identified in patients taking Lamictal."

So that's 40 cases in 15 years, ie less than three a year - in other words, very, very rare.
