Has anyone been on these two together or knows someone who has? If so how far were your seizures spread out? What were side effects like?

I'm currently on Lamictal 200mg in the morning and 300mg at night, as high as I can go on that. I've been on topomax before it worked best after lamictal.

Also this hasn't been a choice asked by my neurologist. It is something that I am planning on asking her if I can do.

I'm on this combination--200 lamictal, 200 topamax. Topamax kept CPs at bay but not SPs, lamictal has helped with SPs, but I'm still not fully controlled and just went up on Topamax (can't go up anymore on Lamictal). I read a paper that looked at synergies between AEDs, and it listed this as a good combination, not just because of seizure control, but because some of the side effects offset (for example, Topamax can cause mood problems in some people, but Lamictal can be used to treat depression, etc.). So far I'm liking the match but time will tell if I gain seizure control with it. Good luck to you!!!

Thanks for the reply.

Do you know if patients are allowed to make requests about what medication they can use? I have never been told I have the option to do so.
