Not having total control over my seizures since my 1st episode 15yrs ago still is an issue for me. They will settle down to a few a year for now I'm having a few a week, mine are nocturnal, I've been on a lot of single & dual therapies, currently on 500mgs of lamictal 7-8 yrs now. my neuro is starting me on lyrica 75 mgs a day? Anyone on the same combo or on lyrica? I'd love to hear your experiences. starting a new combination of drugs takes me time to settle all of the side effects, I usually feel like a zombie as my brain slows down & I have to learn to normalize, organize and adjust my lifestyle. even the new med can trigger seizures. I have a lot of reservations. My Doc doesn't.......

wouldn't it be nice if our docs had to take the same regimen we do? A while back my epilepsy nurse actually was a person with epilepsy (as was her son), so she had a much better sense of how it felt to be taking med after med.

I haven't tried the Lamictal/Lyrica combo, but other CWE members may have.

Here's a site with patient feedback on Lyrica: http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=21723&name=LYRICA

Hi seizing more,

Sorry to hear that you have had more seizures happening. This happens to me each fall and winter do to the lack of serotonin outside. I've tried both lamictal and lyrica and I didn't care for either of them. Lamictal made be break out with a rash and the Lyrica increased my seizures so I went on vimpat and I'm doing much better now.
Ask your Dr. to do a DNA test and they will be able to find the best seizure med for you with the least side effects. Often Drs. will tell you they don't do that but that's nonsense because all they have to do is take a few tubes of blood and wipe the inside of your mouth with a Q-tip and then send everything to the lab where it will show the amount of enzymes in a persons liver along with their body chemistry and they can match that up to the best seizure med for your with the least side effect or they can find out if you are drug resistant. I found out I am drug resistant so my Dr. has me using CBD and it's done wonders for me reducing my seizures. If you are interested check out healthyhempoil.com
Wishing you only the best of luck and May God Bless You,

Sue

thank you for the info, I will check out both sites...after 15yrs 1 would think I'd be used to them. it's not that easy, I don't let the episodes get the best of me for the most part. I've been reading about the food we eat. I think its time for a change. maybe some foods are the triggers
